I'm lucky in that stimulants, while they feel fantastic when I do them, I don't wake up the next day craving them. In fact, if anything, I awaken with a little bit of regret.
Opiates are a whole other story. I have to stay away from them.
Just like I said I wouldn't smoke a joint if someone offered me $10,000, I wouldn't do heroin if someone offered me $100,000.
Well, I'd consider it, because it's a lot of money and I have a lot of debts (student loans, etc) that I wouldn't mind settling, but the point is that it really would take quite a lot to get me to do opiates again.
I know my limitations. -

2018-11-17 at 11:41 AM UTCWe’re all different. I can take or leave opiates; which isn’t common. When I’m out, I’m out, not looking for more. All of our bodies are different.
I beat a horrible addiction to coccaine years ago, which is also hard to do, so I get it. No one believed I could do it on my own, but somehow I did. On that one, I believe my deceased father gave me the strength; I definitely wasn’t a strong person at that time. -

This exemplifies exactly how different drugs can be habit forming to different degrees for different people.
Good for you for getting off the coke.
I know how big of an accomplishment that is and you can never be reminded too much of how great that is. -

I had to spend some time in Winnipeg for a few days and it was brutal.
I remember driving our rental car into a corn field, and as soon as I rolled down a window, we were swarmed by mosquitos or some other flying insect.
It was quite the experience, for such an otherwise boring place. -

I appreciate that, but I don’t take credit for that, my Dad was taking care of me. You know how your Mom called you and knew something was up? Well when I was really in a vicious cycle with coccaine, I got a call from my Mom, she could feel that something was wrong. She’s 2 1/2 hrs away, and hadn’t seen my for a bit which wasn’t totally unusual, but somehow she knew I wasn’t in a good place. That was the beginning of getting sober. Like, how did she know??
Speaking of I’m going to see my 92 yr old Momma today. Her health isn’t great and I need to see her! She’s never asked us to come up when she’s sick, but she did this time; we had plans, but those can wait, Momma calls❤️ -

That could be it.
But I don't want to test that theory because it would mean smoking a whole lot of weed, and the experience is unpleasant to say the least. -

You still have to take full credit for your recovery. It's great that you had help, but that's not always sufficient to get through it all.
You handled the whole thing like a champ, don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
And I hope you have a good time with your mom.
