    adjective

    1. made into or caused to act as a single entity:

So no stars (zero states in a state of union) would be a division of that union.

The image is basically alluding to the fact that many people in all states are divided on the issue of immigration. There isn't one state that is united on the issue, let alone 50 of them…

It's all in the context young Benny, don't get tied up with the name of the country vs the state of the country.

    yes, and

YOU. CANT. DIVIDE. BY. ZEE ROARRRR.

an empty box devoid of any stars in it does not depict, metaphorically, figuratively, or even literalily a division.

a line drawn across the blue box between the 50 stars signals division,

The reason why the box is now empty though is because of division...really benny!

a line drawn across the blue box between the 50 stars signals division,

That only splits the 50 stars into 2 groups of 25...obviously if ALL 50 stars are divided from each other then there is no union and so no stars (states) that are comfortable being represented as part of a union.

My god benny I thought you were smarter than this...again it depends on the perspective of the cartoonist...not your interpretation of my interpretation!

So if it depends on the perspective of the cartoonist, then no one really knows the meaning behind the lack of stars, except the cartoonist and a few other people he deals with. He could have just been lazy and didn’t feel like drawing the stars; doubtful, but we don’t know his mindset.

Yep...doesn't stop us offering our interpretations though, as you yourself just did...the retardation comes in then challenging those interpretations.

..but it wasn't an empty box...it had 50 stars in it...which you can then separate by removing them all and scattering them to the 4 winds.

well if you 'remove' them from the box then thats no longer called separating them,

its called subtracting, or minus-ing the stars.

The cartoonist probably left the stars out cos that's too much detail in a cartoon.

No...it's not subtraction...it's separation (re: division). Per the definition I already posted..there is NOTHING in the definition of division that mentions subtraction.
