Because I had been convincing myself he existed even though it was always blind faith on top of the fear of going to hell if I didn't believe but I had an epiphany and realized I was smarter than that and even if god is real it's probably not the one I believed in and I guess if Christianity is real ill burn in hell forever because that's how that works, but I feel much more confident in my current belief than I ever did with my former one.
  2. There is very little difference between a Christian and an Atheist.

The Christian doesn't believe in 8999 of the historically worshiped gods, the Atheist doesn't believe in all 9000.

    (actual figures may vary).

I'm not an atheist. I should've been more specific. I believe in the possibility of a higher power, and I believe I've no clue, if there is one, who or what it is.

No. It was difficult for a variety of reasons, one because I "believed" my whole life and turning my back on god was a scary thought. Two, I have a lot of christians in my family and having to "come out" I knew they'd be disappointed, but I just reached a breaking point and realized I'd rather be honest with myself and them rather than pretending to be something I'm not.

No I wasn't directing it at you just making a point there is little difference between the two when you look at the bigger picture.

What will become of our godless society!?!

    😈

I believe Q described himself as agnostic

Raised Catholic, guilted all my life; no longer a practicing Catholic. I do believe in a God. Not a God of organized religion, but a higher power, I consider that power my God.

All I can do is have faith in this being, and try to be good to others.

I agree, an absolute belief one way or the other is ridiculous to me.

You need one without the other?

Am I Q? Even throwing the number 9000 out there is weird because it's probably way more, as far as that number just indicating how many made up gods we have found to be believed in. Sort of an arbitrary number since there could be millions more beliefs we haven't documented. But I'm really not thinking one of them is the right one and I just don't which, I just think there could be something, and it's just as likely of a thing that nobody believes in in a religious sense, it's just there. The entire world could all believe in one single god and I still wouldn't necessarily believe in it.

Well you don't have to believe in something to acknowledge that others do, The 9000 number was again as demonstration only...(and as noted in my post that said at the bottom (actual figures may vary)).

The point is religion is about faith, faith in something. An agnostic doesn't have faith that a particular god exists anymore than a atheist does..sure he is open to the possibility but that's not having faith in a god...so in that sense you are similar to an Atheist...Neither of you have faith in any one (or more) god(s).

    Agreed.
  19. There are around 4,000 different religions and some of those religions believe in millions of Gods. So obviously none of us have it exactly right.

Yes to put that in NIS nerd terms it's like trying to pick the best Anime loli character out of the myriad of choices.
