The problem with this logic is that we spend far more than our annual deficit on military every year, and it's the actions of our military and spy agencies that generate refugees in many cases. If we didn't insist on continuing to feed the MIC we'd 1. not be running a country at a perpetual deficit and 2. not have as many people seeking to enter the country. -

Another problem with this is that the United States IS nato and the u.n.
The world is at peace because of the amount of money we (Americans) spend on military. The Cold War was won by outspending. Period. America is the nigga with the big stick.

Deficit means you are spending more money than you're bringing in... the deficit is because we are a massive mode 5 economy with mass consumption needs, and we're getting goods in return. This is a good thing because nations like China rely on our massive consumer spending power for their economic development. It's just a part of living in a globalized society, it keeps the international community together and averse to war. You don't want a trade surplus any more, there's nobody above us on the consumer food chain, that's a good thing. There's no way we could do manufacturing etc in America because our standards of living have risen really high and it would be impossible to compete with developing nations. There's nothing wrong with a deficit.

For the record, I believe in capitalism. Some people truly do deserve to have more than others, if they provide something of value to society in the way of either intellectual expertise, creative productivity, or even physical/manual labor, or an emotional outlet or caretaker role of some variety. But when you have certain individuals and families with billions of dollars in assets, and, on the other end of the spectrum, individuals who can't even sustain themselves nutritionally, you have a clear problem on your hands.
That being said, though, it isn't always an issue of economic dis-proportionality. Reducing everything to class warfare can be just as detrimental to healthy political discourse as touting the construction of a giant, cartoonishly gargantuan wall, to 'keep all the baddies out'.
But nobody should take more than they could ever use tho? That's where the problems start when greedy individuals earn more than they could ever use then just continue earning, usually at a huge rate. While there are millions of others unable to get the opportunity to earn barely enough to eat, clothe and house themselves.
What's wrong with taking early retirement once you've reached say the 200 million mark? Then you've got more than you'll ever need and now some others get the opportunity to have a piece of the action.
