Fracking should be used as a last-ditch effort, not a primary means of extraction. It's well known that shale deposits are extremely short-lived and that the prospectus' put forward by companies are absurdly optimistic. This report indicates that many deposits are being depleted up to 3x faster than predicted.

Reread what I wrote - a large part of current and previous failures is due to attempts to use the military to solve political problems. It doesn't work no matter how powerful the military is.
China and Russia do not need to replicate sea power - they've essentially negated any advantage the surface fleet gave with hypersonic missile tech. The US (and by extension countries that purchase or base their equipment on US designs) are completely unable to defend against the first-generation ZIRCON and BRAHMOS missiles, let alone KINZAHL and AVENGARD which essentially create a 2000km exclusion zone anywhere a MiG can take off from. Then there's the deployment of (again, unstoppable) ASAT weapons in regular AA battalions and other new operational paradigms.
