The SA was all good and well while the NSDAP didn't have a lot of political power. But in essence it was a glorified mob. SA leadership was fixing too absorb the army and the army obviously wasn't to keen on that. Besides, mob or not, with 3 million members, Röhm basically had a personal army already. It was Hitler's personal army too but only as long as SA leadership was loyal. In the end to appease other factions within the party and general leadership Röhm & Co were done away with. It was a good idea in general though, since it consolidated power for Hitler. -

Haha. Ole Sophe. Using southern American slang like "fixing", but you used it wrong. You should have used it like, "SA leadership was fixin' to absorb the army..." - It's never "fixing". It sounds wrong if you phonetically spell it out entirely. It has to be "fixin'"
