At least one livestock company has reported massive losses in the wake of Hurricane Florence.

Sanderson Farms, one of the country’s largest poultry producers, said in a notice to investors Monday that at least 1.7 million of its chickens had perished in North Carolina after dozens of broiler houses and other facilities were flooded because of the storm.

The company added that about 30 farms in the state ― housing more than 6 million chickens ― remained unreachable because of flood waters. Unless feed trucks are able to access those farms, Sanderson warned that loss of life could quickly “escalate.”

so basically the hurricane just saved them a shitton on abattoir fees

Some people don't own cars. too poor to go anywhere. so they wait out the storm hoping for the best.

they're usually the victims. this is what happened in New Orleans. Old people who didn't leave. and of course urban kids in the 9th ward thinking "aint nuttin gonna fuck wif us"

of course even though the hurricane itself wasn't a true threat to New Orleans.. something broke the levy. Some people think Bush ordered a barge to slam into it and break it open.

this is why so many people got trapped.

then they take off for Houston.. humidity 99 percent at 105 degrees, sitting in a large baseball arena with little power to keep them cool.

people died. others died in their addics :(

my parents have property in NOLA and I go hang out there every once in awhile. there is no reason to have a car in that place. the busses/trolleys run frequently enough and go to a varied enough of destinations that a car is a literal liability. parking is for shit...parking is over priced...mother fuckers don't know how to drive or park there...then even when you do park some stupidfuck is going to ding your car.

niggers are ruining NOLA. I remember about 6 months after katrina there were almost no niggers there and it was so nice. the white people had no problems...just the niggers.

that whole 'open season on niggers, no bag limit' was fun. I'm curious why the media never brought that up...it'd be great fodder for their race-war incitement.

No they were all in fucking Houston and the white people here then had the problem.

I remember that time well...they housed them in the Astrodome and gave them $1000 emergency debit cards....when they tracked the use of those cards they were primarily spent in liquor stores and titty bars.

They had a curfew at the Astrodome of 11.30pm or something like that and if they were not back by that time they were locked out...the local news would interview them outside the astrodome where they'd be saying things like "It's disgusting that they lock us out, we've already lost everything".

Fucking idiots can't even take responsibility for not heeding a curfew...too busy spending up their debit cards at covergirls titty bar.

Crime went through the roof in Houston too during that time.

So what's the new chicken count of today?

    has it surpassed the 1.5?

Hell if I lost everything in NOLA I too would probably be at a titty bar.

not really but hell.. a loaf of bread is emergency to one.. and titties to another

shouldn't offer EBC cards then. just strict coupons.

From what I understand a change in how they are distributed was a direct result of the titty bar fiasco...at least a limit on what kind of establishments they could be redeemed in. Back then it was a "use anywhere" debit card.
