You wannabe social rejects bore me...

TV and movies are much different and the internet is almost alien. it's hard to say what the actual value of writing is today. there's a pretty large lack of good art, whether it be writing, music, or otherwise, but maybe we've just exhausted ourselves. the media that is produced today can't necessarily be classified according to art (are memes art? should pepe be considered as important as the mona lisa?), but at the same time they're cultural relics with a lot of meaning imbued…so it's art.

part of the issue is that its hard to interpret any single piece of literature or art and use that as a cornerstone for understanding virtues and values (whether this is the bible or LOTR or fightclub or whatever), because not only does the churn of a particular medium go so quickly, but new mediums are being introduced at a speed that isn't synchronized with our natural rhythms of cultural and growth. We've gone from agrarian to industrialized to an information society extremely quickly compared to the rest of our history, and it's going to take a lot of adjusting - assuming we've already plateaued in technological development. it is hard to gain a shared sense of perspective, and without shared values its increasingly likely that everyone will be adrift and all art will be nothing but taste (brought to you by Monsanto).

you should watch the full three videos in that series with Marshall McLuhan. it's not just about corrupt elites and their designs of malevolence - that is sort of a given at any point in time. The elite have different interests than the common man, and they will use force of all kinds to make sure their interests are met against the common man's interest.

That's nothing new, it's a tale as old as time and you might as well write a love song. What is interesting his how completely and thoroughly technology has managed to mutate our fundamental animal instincts and make us all sick and disgusting creatures barely fit for life, much less art. Think of the man of the plow and of the spear, intimately acquainted with the cycles of life, his masters might be harsh but all of life was grueling and even the luxury of his Lords is more akin to poverty today. There are entirely family structures and ways of transmitting information and culture and tradition that exist within those sorts of agrarian, pre-industrial societies that don't and can't exist outside of limited, failing attempts like the Amish.

Then imagine the grueling coal mines and iron factories and building skyscrapers and there was no great medicine and everything was a health risk and life was a polluted, toxic hellhole but you still had a large family centered around some sort of city with an industry. It's a lot different, a lot more mechanical, a lot less poetic and a lot more of an obituary. Then, after several decades of your family mining coal and smelting steel and forging the drums of war, no one has work because everyone is supposed to learn how to code or become a life coach. Your only connection to a deeper culture at this point is that, like Shakespeare, you want the lawyers to die first. The air conditioned bug-man, drinking his soy latte and playing his switch is blood related to the very hard men that had very strong feelings about religion and the way things ought to be, they had cultural touchstones, although they were eroding. Modern man laughs at tradition, cares nothing for history, and assumes his suffering is the apex of human pleasure.

you can't even just blame this all on the elites. they just take advantage of a bunch of dumb monkeys

If you're an introvert why the fuck would you hang out even with another introvert. how would you even come to accepting each others company?

You sitting there, and them sitting 10 feet from you. You go and they co-introvert with you?

    that sounds like a false-narrative

It would be cool to watch. like timid squirrels that want to keep each others attention to watch out for the boogieman preditor but not get to close to each other or they will have issues and start stressen. I know I would

so they keep 10 feet from each other. You see people in deep thought and OCD facial ticks all in a perfect 10 foot pattern.. like a grid of Introverts. deep thought. sighing and hssing when someone wanders in.

But you'd be in a bubble. You'd have to pop your own first. But in my fantasy, we can't pop our own bubbles. They're strong and, ya know, unpoppable.

I have very clever ways to pop your so-called indestructible bubble. It's not hard, really.

introverts tend to prefer to be alone more often. they tend to be more of an observer in social settings. you might see them setting by themselves just observing or talking to only 1 or 2 people. some people just don't enjoy socializing as much as extroverts.
