Shulgin didn't just theorize that, it happens in rabbit livers. However, nutmeg is verrrry interesting pharmalogically, it's practically paradoxical. Not only does it contain MDMA-like chemicals, it also has mescaline-like chemicals (TMA). Sounds like a perfect combo for a high octane, intensely energetic trip. Nutmeg is in anything outside of small doses, a pretty heavy sedative. Large doses can mean 36+ hours of bloody, hash like eyes in bed, only moving to piss or masturbate.
Since nutmeg is a psychedelic, a sedative, and an MAOI, it's absolutely perfect to pair with an LSD trip. Generally It's best to dose the nutmeg before the acid, nutmeg tends to start off on a slightly more upbeat psychedelic note, something that pairs well with a rave or at least a relaxed light show, but at the end becomes pleasantly lethargic and subsumed in dreams. Timed right, your comedown on acid will be the highlight of your entire day, finally resting your bones after running around chasing your dreams. And then it all comes flooding to you, washing over you with gentle pastel colors.
honestly eating LSD without nutmeg is as dumb as not smoking some weed in my eyes. I never dose acid without nutmeg if I can help it. the only instances I don't is when someone randomly force feeds me acid(sadly not as often as it used to be). -
