   I half-believed it until I read the part about them scaring her with her face so that her blood would have adrenaline in it. Supposedly they would drink it to get high, but adrenaline doesn't work that way

   It's just an old witches belief. they do this to Cattle and Chickens too. punching baby calves to create this adrenaline (The believe) to make the meat taste better or to get more nutritious life from the animal.
