I hate to be "that guy" but both Leonard Kleinrock and Paul Baran were both definitely jedi. A lot of ideas in computer science and computer engineering come from jedi authors, historically they've been well represented in those fields as well as mathematics and science more generally. -

I'm just saying it's kinda hard to pick out some principle which makes "chipping" bad (a principle like "pervasive unwarranted surveillance is bad" or "centralization of power in technocrats maybe isn't the best idea") that doesn't make the corporate designed and manufactured and state regulated black box computers/communication devices we all carry around unacceptable.
