I have not read that. Is it good?

    That's Steppenwolf.

    Malice on Steppenwolf:

I had a thought a while ago, not sure if I posted it here, that the end of the novel Steppenwolf could be interpreted as having received the death penalty for taking life too seriously, as opposed to treating it as a game and accepting the absurdity. There are some people who literally do end up committing suicide or driving themselves insane because they took life too seriously.

That was in 2017. Damnit, Malice.

I thanked that post because it was interesting and much appreciative to enter but it's actually pretty sad

I wonder if there's a psychiatric term for "I have a massive fucking problem with being a human being." I'm not sure what proportion is environment, neurology/biology/genes, life history, or psychology/world view at this point. If I had had the optimal environment, would I still have developed a seething hatred and resentment for humanity and human life, perceived a fundamental inadequacy?

Oh, it was another user who suggested I read it: thecockboss, whoever that was, all the way back in 2016. I really want to read it now.

Anyway, the point with Schopenhauer and Nietzsche is that eagles do not take flying lessons from chickens.

And didn't Malice suicide because his Dad forced him to go to college "to learn to code", and when that inevitably didn't work out was going to make him homeless?
