Servers do bust ass. Man my wife used to be a chef, trained in france and shit, and switched to being a server because it paid way better. She took her job seriously as fuck. She worked in a high end bourbon bar where a shot could run you 300 bucks of some ultra rare shit. In this town bourbon snobs are a huge thing, and knowing bourbon can make you a LOT of money. She would make 4 or 5 hundred bucks a night sometimes.
She got sick of the drama and the bullshit though and now she makes WAY less working in a warehouse, but she is a fuck of a lot happier. I don't even know if I wanna work at the restaurant I am at. 12 bucks an hour to put butter on baked potatoes isnt bad at all, but I can sense the drama there already and tonight was my first night. I might just say fuck it and work at a call center doing collections for the same amount of money. Unless I can get in to management. IDK. Restaurants suck. Stop bitching and learn a trade. -

I absolutely know what you're saying in terms of their stress, but in most of my experience the stress level is always as high in a kitchen as it would be when the servers are busy enough to be stressed or overwhelmed or whatever.
And I know the dealing with people part is the shittiest part of their job and why most cooks prefer to cook as opposed to that.
My whole point is that they needn't bitch about their tips, unless they're working somewhere their tips equal minimum wage or whatever. That's how it works. Some people don't tip, and they don't have to. And i, as a cook especially, know that it happens and don't give a shit.
You do have the cool waitresses and bartenders though that do hook you up with parts of their tips and have a sort of reciprocal appreciative understanding of how the whole thing works, which is nice. -

Correction: he didn't choose to take a job where he only makes $2.30 an hour. If you're making $2.30/hr it's because you chose to. You have agency. You can get a job with a guaranteed wage if you're so concerned about your financial stability. If you're working for $2.30/hr because you know/you think you'll make more than minimum wage with tips you can fuck off. You're choosing to gamble on what you get paid. No matter your motivation for working that job though, it's a choice. Don't cry to me like we're obligated to tip. Negotiate with your boss if you want more money, he's the one you agreed to work for.~

I always read online, people asking "does this waitress like me?" and people responding with, "dude, it's her JOB to be nice, she doesn't like you". Nigga, wtf? In Australia our waitresses are rude as hell, unless they ACTUALLY like you, because they don't get tips.
So how are those questions supposed to be answered, you skinny whore😜 -

2018-08-14 at 12:06 PM UTCI once was delivering a pizza and when i got there this black chick was like "OH HAI! COME TO BACKYARD!" and i went and there were all these girls and as she was pulling out money she said it was her friends birthday and outed some girl, the girl had one arm and looked pretty pissed. So i told her "happy birthday doll"
the black chick started asking me if i also worked at the sandwhich shop down the st because i look like someone that works there and i was like "nah thats not me, I just have a familiar face"
anyways she tipped me and I said bye to everyone and as I was walking away the girl with the one arm yelled "HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR FACE!"
i like was like tfk?! -
2018-08-14 at 12:13 PM UTCIt does bother me, but I still tip anyway, because for some fucked up reason, US law allows restaurants to pay servers far less than minimum wage because "tips make up the difference."
It's one of the reasons I rarely go out to eat, you're fucked either way. If you don't tip, your server is getting paid $3 an hour. But if you do tip, you're enabling corporate greed. -

what about cab drivers or uber and stuff like that? do you tip there? coz they make way more than $3 an hour already obviously, but they expect to be tipped as well. -

I haven't taken a cab or uber I don't think. But I would only tip them if they went out of their way to get me where I needed to go, fuck their expectations -

I heard a story from someone who took a cab, and at the end he said, "so my service means nothing to you?!" and my friend was like "wtf? fine..." and handed him a dollar but then the cabbie ignored him and didn't take it. Fucking hell man, cab's are overrpriced as it is, and he started crying about no tip. -
2018-08-14 at 1:01 PM UTCI never understood the 20% shit, it takes the same effort to bring me a $50 plate as it does a $6 burger.
