I substituted for 8 years at 2 different districts until I found the place that I wanted to settle at and was right in the midst of completing certification courses when something happened in my life that changed everything...
and I didn't know at the time that my life would never be the same again. -

-Thanks.
I had a paper route Job but I helped "Pops" (my adopted dad) paint as young as 4-5 years old Learn to paint houses at a young age. in those days, no rollers, no paint sprayers. just a good quality brush and using lead based paints to paint evenly back and forth.
Then I had a paper route at age 11-12.
then I had to get a work permit to work in the 9th grade as a dishwasher first but then as a server (good tips) at a fancy fish restaurant on the waterfront. -

What subjects did you teach anyway?
Did you ever give any kids detention?
Did you ever lay hands on any unruly students?
Thk
I only showed videos if that's what the teacher I was subbing for gave instructions to do for the day
I taught ALL subjects in the 8 yrs I subbed. I wanted to get a feel for what I wanted to eventually settle down to, and I was partial to paraplegic students the most.
Yes, I did write pink slips to unruly students if necessary...lol
and NO, I never laid a hand on any student. Course not. -

One of my favorite memory was when I was subbing regularly at a mentally challenged school. Me and the aide took the kids (who were 18-21) to a room where they were encouraged to dance. They started talking to each other in an odd language saying: "Bleeeeppie, bleepie!" and then they would laugh.
I was confused about this, so I asked the aide what they were saying. She informed me that they weren't allowed to say 'dirty' words, and they had to say "bleepie bleep" when they were talking dirty to each other. They started dancing crazily and yelling out "bleep!" that we all started laughing and dancing a bit. It was so fun that day, I never wanted to forget how sweet they were! -
2018-07-27 at 6:16 PM UTCI'm making bleepie bleep a meme. It's a meme now.

lol, NO!aH, Benny benny benny! WE don't refer to them as 'retards' ok? They're mentally challenged. I hate to write this next: I do not have a desire to get romantically involved in mentally challenged people. Unless you're mentally challenged...it just doesn't normally happen. But I forgive yA, LOL -
2018-07-28 at 11:43 AM UTCI think I'm mentally challenged but I always like to challenge myself, so it makes my mental state a cognitive development.

2018-07-28 at 11:56 AM UTCMy first half way jobs were delivering papers with my neighbor friend, and babysitting for at least 8 people up and down my street.
At 15 I started doing phone sales for Olan Mills photography. I was damn good at it. You had to reach quotas to keep the job, and I always did. If I hadn’t gone into a medical profession, sales might have worked for me. -

The name Olan Mills used to mean something ... Olan Mills USED TO stand for excellent portraits ... top notch services and products ...
Now Olan Mills means ... two teenagers making 8 bucks an hour with no photography or layout skills or any idea what they are doing !!!
I made an appointment ... showed up on time ... but the 2 employees were busy with other customers ... 30 minutes later it was our turn ... the employee had no idea how to stage or place people in a picture ... reviewing the proofs I found people are blocked out by people in front ... the photos were dark, and poorly cropped ... once the hour long picture taking session was thru ... we went to the aging PC to view the pics ... at this point the employees seemed so rushed ... and there were so few decent shots to choose from ... I should of just left, and purchased nothing ... but after getting 3 kids and a Grandma dressed up / hair and make-up'ed ... I wanted at leaset one picture.
Beyond a waste or time and money !!!!!!! -Yelp Customer Review -
2018-07-28 at 8:39 PM UTCI helped my Dad install shelves for his business. Age 13. I often smelled like drywall, cigarettes, and money.
