i have zero ability whatsoever to dress myself and more often than not dont match.
when im buying clothes, shoes, sunglasses, etc, ill get a female who has the 'taste' for what style i feel like getting to come along
some things i buy because i want to wear them for me and could care less what people think when im wearing them. ie, all my biking gear, a couple pairs of oakley boots, my sunglasses, cargo pants, the same style of watch that ive been wearing since boot camp (not the same watch...but the exact same type) etc. when i pick my own outfits out of my closet they are earthy-tones and the clothes with colors that arent 'dull' i can count on two hands. i have a fluorescent orange sports (athletic?) shirt that a chick gave me as a gift that ill wear that people say i look good in but i think looks gay. ive purchased things when i dont have a chaperone that i like and want but people tell me they dont fit, dont look right, or some other problem. i have a pair of ambercrombe and fitch dull-green/gray cargo pants that are thick, sturdy, have massive pockets for me to carry shit, and one of the best traits: i can CC a desert eagle under my belly button without printing.
i had an ex-gf break up with me because she wanted me to buy a pink dress shirt and i said only gays (i normally say faggots but we were in dillards and i didnt want to offend her) wear pink.
when im going out for an important occasion ill consult with a female to pick out what im going to wear.

I dress myself pretty well, given my budget. I think choosing the right formal attire is necessary to further your ambition in the professional world beyond student status, although this can vary largely by field.
