When I was 15 I expected the late 2010s and onward to look like something out of Deus Ex Invisible War but without the negativity and conspiracy stuff.
I was so excited for what the future would bring, yet here we are in the future yet everything looks like the late 00s and the only major futuristic stuff available to the public is VR and electric scooters.
I did not expect the communists were going to be this close to taking over the United States or that public schools would be pushing transgenderism.
I give the future in this timeline a 0.5/10 -

I don't know if that describes you or not, but I think it's an interesting conflict within what I would call the prevailing societal view.

To be fair, when people think of pedophiles they think of people who have been caught for raping/molesting children. I mean if they haven't been caught molesting children, you don't know they're a pedophile... right? This association between sociopathy and pedophilia is understandable. Almost forgivable, even. It's also the reason why studies on pedophiles are notoriously unreliable - you can't get a full picture of what the average pedophile looks like if most/all of your sample group are people who have been arrested for acting on their pedophilic urges. The image of the average pedophile in people's minds as a result is that of a person generally inclined to criminality.
It'd be like doing a study on "the psychology of killers" and only sampling murderers in jail, not people who have killed in self-defense or in war. Not that that's a perfect analogy of course, "killers" have actually killed.
