Well, egghead or not, he was wrong. He was attempting to infer that the old ASCII BBS software couldn't run on anything but a dialup connection. That is just not true.

no he wasnt. All he said was that people these days dont use conventional BBS systems and that the forum style boards have a much larger user base in the current year. -

He said BBSs are now "basically non-existent" and used the words, "dial up". That's good enough for me. And even if he were implying otherwise, I could list hundreds of Telnet-based BBS hosts which are still in operation today. He's wrong, wrong, and wrong again. -

Telnet BBSs are pretty scarce these days too. Even if you could actually list hundreds of them it should be obvious there are tremendously more forums running over http. Even 8chan (perhaps not a forum in the traditional sense, but a community site served on HTTP) has nearly 9 thousand boards alone.
And really, talk about scapegoating, jesus christ man you blame the last decade of history on gifs and web browsers? Yeah, that's believable, Jeff wouldn't have ragequit on us, zok wouldn't have gotten doxed, arnox wouldn't have been autistic and idio wouldn't have... done whatever idio did if only we had had all been looking at shitty terminal emulators instead of browsers for the last 10 years. Totally man, that would have changed everything. -
