Your need/desire/addiction for it can though...
but at the end of the day you are the one that makes the decision to allow the substance to influence you.

Well taking responsibility would be not relying on a drug to get through your day or make it a more "fun"...there are plenty of "fun" things to do that don't involve harming yourself, being weak and breaking laws that could inpact your life in all kinds of negative ways (criminal record, jail time, etc etc) -

in other words it influences your decisions. you still have the choice and ability to use or not use. even if not using makes you physically ill, you can still choose to take that option. i do it regularly because i know being a little ill now avoids being really ill later. that's me exercising self-control.

If yiu don't get addicted to something it's not like it's some bragging right you just happened to be born with a brain that doesn't get addicted to something. It's not like it's something you can get good at by practicing it's just what it is.
Seriously the argument that addicts are weak is a weak argument in and of itself. We're predisposed to things and it what it is.
