The basic gist is that standard transistor-based computers can only perform calculations in binary, ie. they only have two states, ON and OFF. HIGH and LOW on the circuit.

Consider the difference in size when representing instructions that are thousands to millions of bytes long and you'll come to understand that modern crypto and hash functions could be completely undone under the new paradigm, and that whoever owns it first will have unfettered access to literally everything.
HOWEVER the concept relies on quantum uncertainty so it's impossible to know at this stage whether quantum computing will ever be feasible - I recently read about the lab that was making use of the 7-state particle, but their research has only gone so far as 'programming' and 'reading' a single particle, both processes taking several minutes to perform.
I expect if and when a real quantum computer is developed its effect will be impossible to hide. -

Hey numbnuts nobody said IBM was connected to God. The inference was that IBM thought the mainframe was the shit the ultimate computing solution. It didn't pan out that way as networks were more suited to creative business solutions. Flop goes IBM and its outdated thinking. -

I wasn't raised in the jedi Faith. it's just an old school ritual. our universe is full of amazing wonderful secrets. it's ritual . like Jesus telling people to eat bread as his flesh and drink the wine for his blood.. to bring their concious into sync of the prayer. We live in the 21st century .. our age is changing (I believe to Aquarious soon as a messurment of astological time not that I proactice it) and so the rules of the ages may change. let them swing a chicken around. screw this "I feel so bad for a chicken" BS.
