Two arguments are made for this: that MMT is a safe choice for these women and their children and/or that no good alternative exists. Both arguments might be true, but the two are sometimes confused, with the latter being taken to support the former. We believe that further knowledge about the effects of prenatal opiate exposure is valuable regardless of the principle argued, and find it remarkable that little literature exists describing possible teratogenic CNS effects of opiates in the developing child5.

Unfortunately, no such data exist on cerebral characteristics in children exposed to MMT.

even the part you quoted as your argument supported my argument goddamn
the deficits are already there -
2018-06-21 at 4:05 PM UTCbut clearly it has nothing to do with the extremely powerful drug the mother is using its only the other factors that are giving the baby brain damage
i think ur retarded -

clearly? what because you want it to be? its good job all scientists don't base their hypothesis on that kind of rationality huh?

2018-06-21 at 4:07 PM UTCmaybe it should come from someone who isnt addicted to it. can you actually imagine being unbiased in that circumstance? i dont defend huffing spice syrup because im still somewhhat attached to reality

both of the articles literally state it causes damage to the babies brain
you're trying to refute those articles by quoting "more research is needed" like that disproves anything -
2018-06-21 at 4:10 PM UTCThat baby will come out retarded or stillborn or something abnormal, 100% guaranteed. Hydro is in denial/doesn't care because she's fucked up on heroin right now.
Nine months. She just had to look after her body for nine months. She's a piece of shit. -

i'm not necessarily disagreeing with that, but opiates/opioids undeniably cause a change in brain chemistry. i mean isn't that the point of taking them? you feel good, and if you continue using them on a regular basis, your brain adapts to it on some level and makes changes that you will feel when you withdraw. babies get super fucked up when their moms do a lot of drugs, and there is definite evidence of babies being born addicted to opiates. is this not representative of a change in brain chemistry? opiate withdrawal can be bleak as fuck for me, an adult, so what do you think it would do to the mind of somebody who was literally just born and it's their first experience of reality?
also, a lack of literature on a specific topic doesn't mean anything one way or the other. it simply means it hasn't been studied. idk why people try to use that like it's proof that they're right so often -

huge mass of data on correlation between chronic opioid use during pregnancy and birth defects
no direct in-vitro chain of causality though, so might as well keep shooting heroin until we have it -

Infants born to opioid abusing mothers can be preterm, and exhibit low birth weight, thinner cortices, reduced cognitive ability, and physical and behavioral deficits. In addition, studies have begun to identify long term social, psychological and behavioral abnormalities and deficits among children associated with maternal opioid exposure, including lower IQ scores, poor social skills, and with disruptive behaviors.
Evidence from cell culture and animal studies raises concerns regarding possible adverse effects. Opioid receptors are present in several brain areas, and multiple mechanisms could be affected by opiate exposure6. Prenatal morphine exposure adversely affects the migration and survival of neurons in rat embryos7. Morphine has also been found to increase apoptosis in human fetal microglia and neurons8, and recently prenatal heroin exposure in mice was shown to elicit memory deficits attributable to neuronal apoptosis9.
Neonatal withdrawal effects are observed in the majority of opioid-exposed newborns10, and neuropsychological difficulties are documented in children that have been prenatally exposed to heroin11,12,13 and methadone14, but the latter vary with the type of comparison group employed15. Smaller neuroanatomical volumes and regionally thinner cortices compared to controls in children with heroin and poly-substance exposure are documented, partly linked to behavioural difficulties1
hurrrr im blind and cant reed -

Prefrontal and temporal gray matter density decreases in opiate dependence.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16369836Heroin addiction has been associated with impaired neuronal connectivity and cognitive deficits. One mechanism that potentially explains these findings is alterations in white matter connectivity secondary to chronic opiate use. However, few studies have quantitavely examined white matter deficits in opiate addiction (OA). Here, we investigated white matter microstructure in OA using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). We performed voxel‐wise analysis of fractional anisotropy (FA) in 24 participants with OA and 29 healthy controls. The OA group showed reduced FA in multiple pathways including the corpus callosum, thalamic radiation and inferior longitudinal fasciculus.

this, it's stupid to deny the harm that drugs do and it's more likely to get you in way too deep i think because it just gets you used to deluding yourself until it reaches insane proportions. i've seen more than one person literally tell me they quit doing pills/h, as they are racking up a line or cooking it down. another guy i know has been shooting h for like 7 years daily and has told me the entire time he's in the process of quitting. like at what point does the bullshit become so overwhelmingly obvious that you're forced to accept it? -

shes been using T-PAIN through the whole pregnancy until about a month ago
not only is she derping the child's opiate receptors, but also the serotonin and glutamate receptors which seems like a perfect recipe for autistic child §m£ÂgØL2
