They can't indiscriminately kill people, although they certainly have the power to do so, but instead, they get corrupted humans to do their dirty work for them. They have ways. They have millions of mindless minions worldwide witlessly doing their bidding without even being asked to. The greed of humans and their lust for power alone, in combination with psychological warfare, is enough to get their objectives accomplished.

asteroids aren't really a big concern for earth because jupiter's gravity is so strong that it pulls in any significantly sized asteroids and away from us in doing so.
