I have family there still.
Crime is bad in all cities. crime in the 60s and 70s was worst in NYC. statistics shows it's dropped in serious crimes by 6 fold. what other major city has had this. if anything, San Francisco's crime is on the rise instead of decline. which is weird because of gentrification it shows crime has gone up. but mostly non violent. LA on the other hand has become a third world disaster with crimes on a level never seen before. and look at how bad Chicago has got. it's become like it was in the early 70s when Latin Kings ruled that city. but just a different series of gang problems from different gangs.
You were lucky to have had that experience but it sounds like You moved out when you should of moved in. you wouldn't of had to see all the seedy drug addicts and problems in the parks and times square as you most likely did as a kid.
do you live in LA or Florida by chance? what made you move -
