For those of you who care about your health, how do you manage your alcohol use?

2018-06-06 at 7:10 AM UTCWhere I've taken up a Keotgenic lifestyle, I've kinda slacked off my alcohol consumption.. You can drink while doing Keto, so long as you only drink 40 proof and upwards, while avoiding any and all alcohols with added sugars. The digestion of alcohol is going to throw you out of ketosis anyways, but since it metabolizes fairly quickly, it's not a huge problem. Honestly, if your pursuing a healthier lifestyle, your going to moderate your alcohol consumption anyways. Nothing wrong with having a drink or getting a buzz on occasion (everything 2-4 weeks), just don't over do it or be getting shitfaced every 2-3 days. We take out bodies for granted in out youth, only to suffer for it later.

Alcohol metabolizes into ketones. I use whiskey to get INTO keto.
Drink a whole liter with nothing else till it's gone, then go to sleep. When you wake up, drink nothing but water till you're no longer hungover, then eat things like cheddar, peanut butter, etc. Think high-fat/medium protein/low carb.
Why it works:
You are so dehydrated after whiskey night that your body has no fluid to keep carbs in suspension and you'll piss them all away.
The alcohol metabolizes into ketones. That means you are in ketogenesis (but not ketosis).
When you start drinking water again, the re-hydration moves your autonomic nervous system to start making simple sugars out of anything it can to get your blood sugar up to a functional level, in order to supply ATP for your brain and glycogen for your muscles.
Ketones can be converted to glucose by your body (google: Krebs cycle). Since your blood is packed full of ketones (ketostix show 800+ ppm) the next morning, you body shifts into ketones-burning mode.
Then when you start to wind down from the ketones, start eating plain peanut butter, cheddar cheese, ham, bacon, anything high-fat with some protein and very low carbs.
Fat can be converted to glucose by your body, but since you are being supplied with a steady supply of fat your body won't store much excess fat.
The result of fat metabolization yields ketones as well, keeping your body in ketosis.
Full ketosis in 2 days.
Warning: you can't gain muscle this way.
I work in the restaurant business in Florida. You always get better tips if you look good. Bulk in the winter, cut in spring, keto summer, then 1st November bulk again.
After a winter bulk I can cut from 190 to 175 in 2 weeks and lose very little muscle. Then through beach season lots of eggs and buttermilk. Hard liquor and water at the club. At 6'2" and 175 I look skinny... until I take my shirt off.
Bitches love an 8 pack. -
