The official NIS rust server is up and running.

2018-05-21 at 10:51 AM UTCWell that's the reason i made the other thread, but apparently we don't have as many gamers on NIS as we did on zoklet.
It ain't that big of a deal to switch games though. I'll keep the server running for a few months and then measure activity and if there is none, then i'll host a different game if there's any interest in such.
Alternatively there's always the game called Reality. Its got shit story line but the graphics is the best ever. -
2018-05-21 at 12:30 PM UTCI'll get it when it's on sale, should be in a few weeks

I'm not sure about that, but i doubt it.
But he was in a fucking helicopter and 360 no scoped me through a rock while I was cutting down a tree.
Lost all my shit and my body disintegrated. 3 hours of my life wasted -

I'm actually playing that solo at the moment
I've set up servers in the past, it's a pretty hacky solution
that said I wouldn't recommend it, there are a LOT of problems with that game's network stack. I'm not just talking like those faggots on steam forums constantly complaining about 'netcode' because their ping is shit either. Two major issues:
1. If you're on a slow connection, you can't explore unless you stop every few steps. The game generates areas (cells) the first time someone goes there, so if you're on a slow connection you can easily move faster than the areas are generated and loaded - if you do so you fall through the map and keep going until you rejoin the server.
2. This issue I've been trying to debug myself because the devs are fucking spastics and won't even respond to it - on horde night (every 7 days a massive horde attacks your base), clients will get huge data spikes (and corresponding ping spikes) correlating to the number of zombies in the horde. It doesn't seem to be as much of an issue if there's a megabit connection between client and server, but if you're playing with people in different countries everyone but the host will get fucked. I've used wireshark to try and work out what data is being sent, but so far no luck. Best guess at the moment is their implementation of UMA to make 'custom' zombies as reducing UMA quality reduces the amount of data sent, but they supposedly disabled UMA for zombies a few builds ago and now just use it for player characters. Fuck knows though, like I said the devs have never responded to it. -
2018-05-22 at 10:28 AM UTCYes let's all play stuff alone that sounds a lot more fun than the actual server thats online right now.

Yeah, that's the biggest issue. However with so few people, i dont think it'll be that bad. I doubt we'd ever have more than five users at once.
Usually i play in a server with one other person and we seldom have lag. Though we are in the same country -
2018-05-22 at 5:54 PM UTCLets set up a server and mod hydro into the game when she dies.
