Because telling you I don't keep IP logs isn't really doing much to protect your privacy or security. I could say I don't but you'd have no way to verify that. If it's important to you that an IP address that can identify you in the context of investigation not be logged you're the one responsible for that regardless of what I do or say I do with the software. So my option is between providing a false sense of security and being able to better deal with spam, I think the correct option is pretty obvious. -

that sounds rather un-totse in spirit.
besides wouldnt it be better and easier for you if you keeps no ip addresses so that if and when your being compelled to show them by the LEO you could just show them youve nothing to show ???
are you required to keep ip adresses by law ??? -

I'm not required to keep IP addresses. It's true that I could avoid turning over IP addresses if LE subpoenaed records by not recording them. I can be compelled to start logging IP addresses without telling anyone I am however. As a result me saying that I don't log something does you no good because you'll never be able to trust me. In fact I would tell you I was logging IP addresses even if I wasn't because it turns out some people take me at my word even if they should know better. I want you to act under the assumption that I am keeping IP logs in case you're dumb enough to rely on my statement that the opposite is the case.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire! -

I don't want to start up tor every time I post and I don't want other people to have to do the same.
Also what is "all of my log keeping"? The only logs I keep that aren't strictly required for core functionality is IP addresses, which I didn't log for a long time but with the amount of people spamming under multiple accounts it became a necessity.
