How hard would it be to shoot down Airforce One?
-
2018-04-21 at 4:27 PM UTCBut can it really do all this? What if it's all just frabricated to make the public think it's invincible?
I have read it and researched it too but I still have my doubts about how well protected it is. -

2018-04-21 at 8:46 PM UTCNo one would be able to get near Air Force One in the air, because wherever it goes it has an escort of jet fighters armed with missiles and using the very latest technology. You would be detected and blown out of the sky before you could get 20 miles from the President.

LOL no. Modern static SAMs will ignore the flares and chaff, the only real defence is fighter escorts and making sure it stays out of their range. A MANPAD at take-off or landing would do the job too (typical MANPAD range won't reach a passenger plane's cruising altitude). -
2018-04-22 at 1:36 AM UTC"Armour plating ensures the plane can withstand a nuclear blast on the ground."
"Electric defence systems jam enemy radar and confuse missiles, while mirror ball defences hidden in the wings can overcome infrared guidance systems.
Onboard electronics and communications are designed to withstand electromagnetic pulses."

2018-04-22 at 2:14 AM UTCI can't find any information on what sort of armor it is or how close it can be to the blast, so I'm assuming they're mostly just talking about protection from EM effects. The kind of armor you'd need to survive anywhere near the primary blast area of a nuclear bomb would be far too heavy to leave the ground

2018-04-22 at 2:43 AM UTCThe Beast’s armour plating is said to be 8 inches thick. It can carry seven passengers including the driver and rumored to be completely sealed in case of a chemical attack.
His driver is a CIA agent specially trained to deal with driving during challenging situations as well as how to handle emergencies. The Beast’s fuel tank is said to be armour plated to help repel bullets.
As a second line of defense, the tank is filled with a special form similar to what race cars use that prevents it from exploding even after sustaining a direct hit. Steel rims and a run flat device enables the Beast to drive at high speeds in case its tyres are destroyed.

that quote's in reference to the limousine, not the plane
8 inches doesn't really sound realistic either though -

I see all these tv shows about how well protected our Commander and Chief is but I wonder "How well protected is he"?
No one has ever tried shooting his helicopter or airplane down.
Do you think the President's vehicles could really evade a rocket or missile attack?
Could they withstand a direct hit?
You never see any footage of testing the President's limo against a rocket or bomb.
Is it because it is classified or is it because they can't really protect him all that well and declassifying footage of testing armor and defenses used to protect the President would just encourage attacks because the armor actually sucks?
Ask about Dirty Bombs and other things that would never flag this site! LOL -

they cant detect anything the size of amazons shipping drone.
even if they did, it has insufficient size for a missile lock on, so they cant shoot it down with a missile. -
