What have you been playing lately?

2018-03-15 at 10:58 PM UTCBeen playing Kenshi again. The most recent unstable update really changed things up by adding ranged combat and limb loss. Some guy on YouTube demonstrated how ranged combat is overpowered even with shitty crossbows and zero in all stats.

That's a bit disappointing, but I'm sure it'll get balanced out before the new build goes stable.
The main thing that impressed me is the limb loss. It used to be I'd always play the "rock bottom" scenario when I started a new game. It was supposed to be the most difficult start, but it was still easy if you knew what you were doing. You would start with absolutely nothing, you'd be starving, and your left arm would be injured. It was nothing major to overcome, but at least it added a slight challenge.
This is how the rock bottom start looks now:
Dude only has one arm. That's a significant handicap. I'm still trying to figure out the best course of action. The devs really know how to keep things fresh.
Someone made an ultra hardcore game start. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1328583306 -
2018-03-16 at 12:35 AM UTCOutlast 2. I thought the first one was fucked up but this is even worse.
I love these kinda games tho, its really the only thing that still manages to surprise me and get me exited. -

The gameplay was great. It was simple but what's wrong with that? The level of interactivity was sufficient that it didn't play like a branching series of cutscenes but didn't detract from the drama which was a really interesting way to build a game.
You're not alone in disliking it, lots of people did. And I think most of them did so because they had this blanket loathing of QTE's because of abuse in certain titles of the era that it had turned into a dogma against anything that wasn't a core gameplay loop in game design which is needlessly limiting and close minded.
I never really understood the common hatred for QTEs. Probably because my main experience with them was from Shenmue II, and it and they were awesome. -

Have you beat it yet? I haven't played in a while, but got tired after the third island. Been doing co-op too, which is harder than singleplayer since enemies have more health and thus you need to dodge for a longer period of time. -
