   you can get random nerve firing after death for up to an hour or so. it does not mean the person is still alive or in any way conscious. the shock from a severe laceration like a beheading would render you immediately unconscious. i mean if you can knock somebody unconscious just by a punch to the jaw then imagine what severing the whole head would do.
