My understanding was that their findings revealed some actual abuse going on in a few places which got overshadowed by the spectre of Satanic hysteria. There are accounts from survivors that I've heard on YouTube also, so I really do have to wonder what the truth really is.The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire!

A lot of them probably aren't, but a lot of them probably are as well. Lots of money in it. It feeds the fundamentalist religious people's fear of the devil/unknown. Just look at all the "Holocaust survivor" stories. People will say anything for attention/book sales.
That being said though, I'm sure there were at least a handful of real cases. Maybe more. -
