A healthy democracy can't directly stop people from voting. Usually, they find other means to discourage certain demographics that overall devalue our system. -
2018-03-12 at 9:52 PM UTCDemocracy is a failed ancient Greek experiment in government. A republic with democratically elected representatives is what should be.

While I'm dreaming, maybe you could transfer USD to USDCoin and back it with the security of the democratic process.
If people were allowed to vote directly on the issues the first thing they'd do is send you back. -

I worded it kinda sarcastically on purpose, but I'm dead serious. -

Objectively false. But if that happened, so be it. It will mean the will of the people is represented.
I think the endgame will be just a computer or something doing the number crunching and giving us 99% accurate advice on ruling, with "representatives" being in place to temper it and make sure it doesn't just murder humanity, like in Evangelion. -
2018-03-13 at 2:34 AM UTCEhh, seems like a good way for a state to legitimize itself.

It's called a direct democracy, dumbass. The theoretical point of a representative democracy is to elect someone you trust to represent your best interests but the simple fact is that is not the case in practice. These people are obsolete middlemen and they were institutionalised at a time when a dude physically had to ride to a government center for weeks on a horse to represent their people. There is no longer a need for any of that. -

2018-03-13 at 10:18 AM UTCWhat we need is for the people to be able to vote on the issues directly instead of electing a bunch of self-serving shitheads to "represent" us and pretend to fight with each other while they serve the same cabal that is screwing us all

Direct democracy would be even more of a disaster than representative democracy. You're essentially removing any checks and balances from the system and turning it over to corporatists and oligarchs who can now more efficiently shape society for their own benefit through propaganda and media manipulation.
The average politician may be a corrupt scumbag, but they're still much smarter and more capable of executive decision making than the average voter. -

The will of the people is all that matters and what makes things right and wrong. If you don't like that, you are probably a homosexual. -

That's probably true with the media in its current state
I always forget about that because I never watch it
