2018-02-26 at 6:26 AM UTCYeah, it was a happy day when the forum was in good enough shape that we could get rid of cloudflare. Deliberately MitM'ing the users always made me uncomfortable and their commitment to freedom of speech is shaky at very best. I almost got kicked off a different forum on the grounds that I was a neo nazi when I said CF's handling of the daily stormer incident was wrong.

you can easily make taboo games and tabboo words, i dont understand why cant you just make the same mechanism to deal with carder007c or something like that. -

There's a person/organization maintaining the script that does that, if I blacklist that form of username they'll just pick another and it becomes a game of cat and mouse. It's costing them something in IP rotation and netting them next to nothing. Economically it seems like they'll have to pivot off at some point. I actually think it's an exponential backoff kinda thing which is why it's progressively less frequent but it could just be my imagination. -

i dont know how it works ... but how about making all newly registered users and users with less than X amount of posts auto-subcribes to your taboo-like games
where their auto banned if they mention carder007, or cvv or whatever relevant keywords etc etc -
2018-02-26 at 6:58 AM UTCIt's reasonable to think a new poster might use the term cvv or related skimming/muleing jargon without being a bot

no cloudflare.
Yeah, I'm such a bastard for wanting the site to still be accessible in the rare event it goes down.
inb4 some bullshit: If 4chan can use cloudflare without problem, there's literally nothing any of you can post that would make New Totse at risk by using Cloudflare. -

2018-02-26 at 1:59 PM UTCThe Daily Stormer uses Nicholas Lim's BitMitigate in place of CloudFlare now. It seems to be working fine. You're not stuck with CloudFlare, and it's not like CloudFlare is a particularly evil company - their Goyish CEO admitted the you know whos (ADL especially) made him do it ahead of their IPO and he regretted doing it as when he did they were encouraged and gave him a big list of other websites they wanted shaohed.
Moral is never cuck, not even once. -

the thing is that its annoying, and the second thing is that its anti anonymity. -

Sure, there are other organizations that will reverse proxy a webservice and do DDoS mitigation but the existence of competition doesn't really justify arbitrary business practices. And even if you're using another service, you're still giving that service tremendous power over your site. I'm not saying people are wrong for using cloudflare for a lot of things (although I would call it irresponsible for a certain class of services that need a lot more guarantees than forums, e.g. financial or healthcare services) but I'm just glad I haven't had to. -

I'll look more into BitMitigate. It's always good to have an alternative in my back pocket. -

The DailyStormer claims to be the most censored publication in history, and I don't really doubt that. They've been shut down from a lot of hosts and even DNS/domain name registrars, including google (who stole their .com).

What CloudFlare did is evil, but almost all companies are caving in when they're put under pressure. Even Chinese ones.
Anglin and weev have said that while the extra work sucks they feel like this is great publicity.
