taking apart a found pool motor
-
2016-03-07 at 10:04 AM UTCi have this really rusty pool motor; it's not an old model, but i haven't been able to undo the jammed-to-shit screws on it
i'm thinking the screw rust's superficial and some kind of drill could do the trick
does it sound worthwhile? i'm hoping to take it apart, fix it up if it's fucked up, then probably modify the power on it
pastebin directory of pics
(can mess was collected for another personal project)
that white shit on the base comes off in small amounts if you scratch it, i'm guessing it's some kind of hard water deposit or oxidation of the material -
2016-03-07 at 10:20 AM UTCThe white shit is probably calcium deposits especially if its been in use. This shouldn't be too much of a problem but I may be wrong so feel free to consider the conditions of the pump that would drive it to corrosion. If it were a result of oxidation I would think it would be much rustier reddish and less white . I see what you mean by those screws being fucked. Id say take a power drill to em with the correct socket size. If any are too rounded just file em to the next closest size.
Overall it looks like you have a decent piece of equipment if you can fix it up right. What you want it for I couldn't imagine but good luck. -

this is the capacitor, no bulge but some oil leaked
i wonder if its busted and they threw the whole thing away over that lol
(in case the way i put the pics up didn't make sense, i use the pastebin as a directory)

will take measurement of the capacitor but it does look kind of fucked from that oil
