2018-02-11 at 6:25 PM UTCIn 1918 there was an H1N1 outbreak that killed about 50 million. Around the same amount who died in the first world war. A third of the world's population were estimated to have been infected.
In 2009 there was an outbreak of H1N1 and only about a quarter of a million died. Which is a considerable difference considering the population of 1918 was below 2 billion and the population of 2009 was around 7 billion. -

Did you post this in the wrong thread or something lol.
But you know those were different strains though right. Even though they’re the same virus, different strains can be more contagious, more deadly, etc.
Also consider the fact that a good portion of the population that died was susceptible to the virus, implying those that lived probably had some innate level of immunity, and passed those traits on to future generations, i.e. natural selection. -

We had/have a seasonal swine flu. So yeah, people are way more immune. We also have better medicine and better access to medicine. -
2018-02-11 at 7 PM UTCDying unintentionally from a natural disease 100 years ago isn’t the same as killing yourself on purpose 100 years ago. Doesn’t really have anything to do with what he said.
You just wanted to talk about the flu didn’t you lol -

2018-02-12 at 6:28 AM UTCIt happened last time, it'll happen again. I actually have fabulous reviews on all my books right now and I'm not about to screw up that income to satisfy the community.
