News leaves shit out. The Moment the developer of UBER (Travis Kalanic) had not kept an eye on his management staff which was reported as being sexist and or biggoted, and probably being a young guy and little knowledge of hold the majority of share holes if going public (51%).. caused a Steve Job Firing like incident taking him from power and turning this into a far less lucrative opportunity for drivers.

In short.. When Travis ruled, Riders made more money. When he lost his position of power, the business grew and became competitivee with Lyft.. lowering fees for drivers take.. plus they went from 15 percent service fee (based off of 15 percent finder fee) to 25 percent take. and now.. get this. You don't get a free Umbrella coverage in case of a car accident.. you now have to pay for it.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Uber is settling a lawsuit filed by Google's autonomous car unit alleging that the ride-hailing service ripped off self-driving car technology.

Bloomberg reports the settlement was about $245 million, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Both sides in the case issued statements confirming the settlement Friday morning in the midst of a federal court trial in the case.

Google's Waymo unit says Uber agreed to take steps to make sure Waymo technology isn't used in Uber's autonomous vehicles. Waymo says Uber also agreed to pay about $245 million.

Uber's CEO says in a printed statement that the company doesn't believe trade secrets made their way from Waymo to Uber. He also says Uber is taking steps to make sure its self-driving vehicle research represents only Uber's work.

BTW that was a guy from google who signed a Non-Disclosure when he went to work for Google, then left for Uber . It shouldn't of been Uber flipping the bill for the lawsuit. It should of been the guy who left Google to take the punishment. but even in his favor, how does Google know he in fact did leak anything? this is based off of algorithm which only one can be written to truly work the most affective for navigation.

    that is a Monopoly.

Cab companies and Lyft never get into trouble it seems. I'm curious why it's always Uber.

What happens to drivers if self-driving cars become a major thing? Driving is a major source of employment.

Also no shit the media never reports on drivers and other employees being fucked over by big companies.

Also with more accurate hand cordination than humans, robots might take many of the position that only a Doctor can do now. Doctor assistance and X-Ray techs will be replaced out. :( robots don't have to run from the patient's room to take Xrays and watch their RAD patches from day to day.

That's a meme. Learn to code and go into finance. Even if that was possible, most people aren't smart enough for that. Coding is really hard, and takes ages (years) to learn. What happens to those who aren't suited to "coding". Do they lose their jobs and have to live unemployed in an economy where everything is getting more expensive?

Doctors don't have their jobs because they're uniquely skilled, it's because they're licensed, so they're legally the only people who are allowed to do those jobs. They're a legal monopoly profession with their own legal monopoly trade union.

I think it'll be a long time before self-driving cars are implemented on a mass scale, and even longer for them to effectively replace humans in the job market. By the time they're accepted for commercial use, I think the blow will have been softened considerably.

dont worry, self driving cars are almost impossible.

in the end, to cover their failures and keep their stock price afloat, tech companies like tesla and uber are going too hire former drivers to remotely control their ''self driving'' cars and trucks from a secret warehouse in some undiscloseable locations.

i was part of that pioneer remote controllers, lost my job @ tesla after i crashed into a buss.

Well I was thinking a Doctor might also be doing microsurgery using part AI and part his refined skills. And many of them are skilled with years of experience in viewing the behavior of patients and deciding what the disease is based on symptoms when test often aren't available.

yet when all knowledge is collected by the Big Red Siren-Server AI that figures out and pinpoints a disease based on all Doctors inputs online and search engines and all patients-Customers who explain what seems to work best for them and results of medication or nature herbal and how much pharmacist are selling such and such product with positive results.. all of this goes into the algorithm-Matrix and this with finding newer personal treatments using genome or DNA, receptors and DNA patenting so specific monopolize research groups get percentage of patient care pay. They do spend lots in research yet my only beef is someone patenting my DNA without my consent.

there are pro's and cons. but hopefully we're not all rounded up in FEMA camps and it's 1944 Poland, all over again

They need a guy to ride along with the AI Semi trucks. he has to load and unload. and then ride along with the truck. But he also has to drive in small cities and small towns (which might outlaw AI cars- and many towns might do this) so the truckers Job might actually get easier, time to watch the road part time while the truck is driving and be able to do internet shit like go on tinychat bltc and show off his lazy shotgun skills. or pr0n. one or the other.

    dont be silly.

cars will never be able to drive themselves. flying a plane is 10times easier and less complicated than driving a car and yet none talks about self flying planes ....

do you know why ??? becos its simply not possible.
