Should I see a therapist or are they pretty much bullshit noobs?

They'll just put me on drugs, and none of the good kind, either.

Psychiatrists will put you on drugs, psychologists and 'therapists' generally just talk about your feelings or give you a referral if you're beyond that

Maybe. Are you willing to listen to their advice? Can you stop yourself from lying to them? Do you genuinely want help?

If the answer to any of the above is no, you'll probably end up feeling like it's a waste of time. You should give it a try though. Just don't walk away from the experience thinking therapy is bullshit if you answered no.

yeah i might go. i'm always telling SBT to go about his problems, so I should take my own advice.

I was kinda forced to go when I was younger so it was kinda shitty. But all the times I've tried to kill myself, I've enjoyed talking to the doctors and it's been alright. Just a lot of talking about problems and stuff. The only thing I hated were group sessions but that's more while you're commited.

Ermmm... yeah. Take that how you will.

If I get a psychologist, I'll want him to be old. Can you imagine having a therapist younger than you? You'd be like "niggah fuck off".

Oooh, what about a therapist like dr melfi from the sopranos. It'd be weird talking to her about my hatred of women though.

Man how am I supposed to talk about that with someone? They'll think I'm a fucking loser.

I saw one for a while, she encouraged me to get on their bullshit drugs, and didn't know a god damn thing about the human psyche. I ended up teaching her a bunch of shit. She had a nice ass though.

pretty sure therapists can just act as like the object through which a person gets better

Like for example some people have insights into life while they're tripping or whatever. It's pretty much just shit they knew or that was obvious anyways, but they can use the psychedelic to make these little beliefs important to them. For example, the cigarette smoker who quits after a powerful LSD trip because he saw just how negatively smoking was affecting him. He always knew smoking was bad for his health and he should quit, but he kind of used the LSD as a sort of scapegoat for the reason he quit smoking. But he still had to put forth the effort of actually quitting, the LSD won't do that for him.

Same for a therapist. People who want to change go to a therapist and they can use that as a "reason" to change. Sure, it may help to give them someone to talk to and the appointments can keep it regular, but they're still doing the work to change themselves.

You already know your problems, whether you want to admit them to yourself or us or not. You know what you have to do to change if you want to, a therapist isn't going to help you if you don't want them to.

Maybe not a 'science' but think of it in even simpler terms. You go to the mechanic shop because there's a noise everytime you go past 45 -50 mph. You tell the mechanic this. He asks something like "Is more of a buzzing or hissing noise?" You ponder it for a few seconds. "More of a buzzing... I suppose." He lays out a list of problems it could be and probably more likely than not the problem get's solved and your back on the road buzz noise free within a few days. I think it's kinda the same approach with mental problems even though it's certainly not as simple as your mechanic interaction.

You talking about the problem doesn't solve shit really but it get's the ball rolling.

Why do you want to see a therapist? What will a therapist help you achieve that you cannot achieve by yourself?

This. And in all honesty, unless you have a legitmate mental disorder (you don't), you can achieve the same benefit talking to a friend or other respected individual as you would a therapist. Assuming you have someone, that is.
