I had a job when I was 19 and I was also a shoplifter. I remember, for all the money I put into weed and alcohol, I shoplifted that same amount, but usually more because I was selling it and making money.
I mean really, who hasn't done a bit of shoplin in their time. -

The only thing I ever shoplifted was this little metal pipe from home depot that I wanted to make a bong with. The alarm at that store was wanky as fuck so I knew I could get away with it. It went off at like every 3rd person. Maybe they were all shoplifting. -

2018-01-30 at 2:48 PM UTCbiggest key to shoplifting is being quick. Knowing loss prevention methods and company policy on shop lifting. Which can all be found online. Also you cant be nervous, the first sign of being nervous is posting online for advice. If you want something you go in, and like having tunnel vision you head to the item and head to the door. Once you conceal your giving loss prevention a reason to stop you, just walk out with it in your hand and if someone ask you for a receipt or to stop you just keep on walking like nothing was ever said to you. It really requires no more thought than taking a shit. You know you have to take a shit so you go to your bathroom and take a ship wipe your ass and leave. you want this item you go to the store take the item and leave.

i have a good pal who was an LPO for quite a few years for a big shopping mall. he told me the people who walk into a store and glance straight up at the camera would get watched like a hawk. peoples guilt makes them do things like that without even realizing it. he reckons most of those people would always be up to something.
there is a real art to appearing like your not up to something that most criminals just don't get.

I agree.
Customers who are not up to anything have no reason to look for cameras, they also dont pace around the store.
The ABSOLUTE WORST thing you can do if your lifting is to buy anything. You get in, you get out. Just because your buying something will not make LP think your not stealing.
Also dont pick up and dump. Contrary to popular belief its best to not even conceal. As any act between you entering the store and leaving gives LP seconds to minutes more to prepare a stop. -

i don't shoplift to make money like i used to but i do slip the odd treat into my pocket in the local supermarket. i mean its so easy how can you not? but i'm going in as a shopper, and i'm buying things. i'm very good now at not looking at cameras, i am browsing around like shoppers do. i know if they follow you on the cam for so long and don't see anything suspicious then they move on. usually i'll be the guy who is buying five or six items and doesn't bother with a basket. so by the time i get to the checkout i got arms full of different items. either just before i get to the check out or if there's a long line, while i'm queuing a few items just seem to magically fall into my pockets. i can literally do it like a magician in front of peoples face right next to them and i notice them not notice a thing. its like david blaine shit tho, its hilarious, i got my technique so down its like none of that rumaging around opening my coat or putting hands in pockets. i just let things literally fall out of my hands so they land in a nice deep coat pocket. one moment its just one of the many things i'm holding, the next moment its just disappeared from existence, like so quick it doesn't even register in anyone's mind.
i did fuck up with a rookie mistake the other week tho. slipped a jar of expensive coffee away thinking i was all cool, walked out the door and got lit up on the scanner, beep beep beep. just kept walking, didn't look back. i've avoided that shop like the plague since then, lol. am still on license from prison tho so that did worry me a bit.
