$200-400 can get you a laptop totally capable of playing games. Buy refurb from a quality refurbisher. Your specific example of Oblivion, most laptops would run it just fine. -

I particularly recommend Lenovo brand laptops, (or MSI), but this is totally your choice. Browse their shit. They have a lot and its all backed with a 1 year warranty, the same you'd get from an "off the shelf" store.
I kind of want to get a VAIO again just based on how nice the one I have is to repair, and how long it has fucking lasted. -

It's not as if very single laptop made by a certain brand is guaranteed to be bad. The E15 series is a best seller and highly rated.
It's only about $510 after tax. -
