2017-12-27 at 8:23 AM UTCPlayed Destiny 2 when it released because some of my friends are Blizzard people, it was pretty and all but I didn't really enjoy it. There were like a grand total of four different kinds of things you fight, the environments were beautiful on PC but they all played the same. It just felt like there was nothing in the game, I didn't care about a single item I collected, every character's special is meh, the only way of interacting with the world was shooting things.
Even shooting things wasn't that great. Like the animation and "gun feel" was good but everything moved slow and there was a ton of cover so every engagement could be resolved by peeking cover to get LOS on one enemy, slowly dragging your crosshair onto their head, and repeatedly clicking until they were dead. The few battles where enemies rushed you and broke out of that mold were just frustrating because the level design had no concept of pathing or arena cycles so you trade fire with an advancing line of enemies until the reach you at which point you jump over them and run in the opposite direction hoping to get to the opposite side of the area without getting shot in the back enough to die.
IDK, just a thoroughly underwhelming shooter. I think bliz should stick to what they know. -
2017-12-27 at 8:32 AM UTCbought For Honor today. Playing the campaign on the highest difficulty and the first boss is hard, but the worst part is that when you die, it literally throws you all the way back to the beginning, past the first fight. so you have to wade past retarded, easy busywork mowing down mooks to get another shot at the boss.

Most modern FPSes just suck sock, unfortunately. It sucks because I have always been an FPS gamer at heart.
I bought Rainbow Six Seige the other day, it looked like it had potential, but then refunded it nearly instantly because regardless of the graphics settings, the visibility was absolute AIDS. Couldn't see shit, then someone would lean out of a wall and shoot me in the nips before I could see them. I tried bumping up digital vibrance etc but no dice.
Destiny 2 = AIDS
Overwatch = okay if you're feeling frustrated and playing shitty that day, because it's balanced for casuals, so nobody is allowed to pugstomp or be too good, but if you want actual competition then just forget about it. In Quickplay, you will basically have to be a shield tank or healer 90% of the time or you will just lose because literally no one else will stop being DPS or a 2ndary tank like Roadhog or Winston. If your team is AIDS, and they often are,, just forget about it.
COD:WW2 is like the definition of cookie cutter. I played this on PS4 and played a lot of zombies, I cannot understand how retards keep buying this shit year after year.
Titanfall 2 was solid as fuck, gotta hand it to them, I don't like games with "hard coded" movement mechanics (I prefer something similar to Quake, where the movement is essentially an interaction of different basc rules and mechanics of the game and physics) but Titanfall 2 has a "hard coded" advanced movement technique that reminds me of Tribes skiing a lot and it's aaaaaight.
Doom is sick, probably the best single player FPS of the past 5ish years. Can't care about the multiplayer.
My favourite right now and for a while has been CSGO. But I've already said a lot about that. -
2017-12-27 at 9:06 AM UTCIs Tiatanfall good? I remember there being hype around it but it just seemed like a gears of war style franchies that managed to conjure a large following just on merit of high production budgets and good advertising.
DOOM was sooo fucking good. Maybe it's just because it was so unexpected (I fucking loath doom 3) and yeah, the industry standards for FPSs have tanked since then, so I was expecting it to be a train wreck but it turned out good so it felt like the greatest thing ever. I wasn't even thinking of playing it until I started hearing people talking about how much of a throwback to doom 1/2 it was. It's the first game where I've finished and immediately started a new replay in many, many years. -

2017-12-27 at 11:35 AM UTCYeah, unlocking specials like over half way through the same that you have to ditch all your character development to use was a weird mechanic. It would have really pissed me off it I didn't have enough unspent skill points to max it out immediately, but that seems like an entirely different balance problem.

It's probably the best "modern big budget" shooter I've played in a long time. If you want something old school, then this isn't it, it's still very much a mainstream shooter for fagboiz, but it's the best one by far.
You actually have to use your brain, and there is still actual room for skill progression, like you actually developing as a player. Plus the movement mechanics are actually fun and feel somewhat skilful, it feels great to slide around, hooking to shit, close in on an enemy and tear their asshole apart.DOOM was sooo fucking good. Yeah I was actually a giant hater before I played it, but they fucking nailed it. The movement was crisp and the difficulty was great from the start (playing it on the hardest is by far the best experience IMO). It really made you feel like a bad ass motherfucker when you zippidy dooda'd between 1000 enemy attacks while sniping they ass. -

2017-12-27 at 8:59 PM UTCWelp, I figured out the For Honor story mode.
Guard break > heavy attack, heavy attack, light attack > guard break, repeat
Continue till out of stamina and you have to guard, wait for it to regenerate and then go at it again. -

I know right? I remember in one of the later levels there was this cargo room fight, very vertical map with some teleporters and niggas everywhere, like a minor climax in the level. It was a bit more difficult than the rest of the level and took me a couple tries to get it, but on my final run though it I ended up spending most of the level jumping off something, spinning round to blast some fool mid air, then landing and running to go do it again. When I killed the last little shit I smashed my mouse down and just felt like the most badass blood soaked motherfucker with a double barrel.
The story was supererogatory, but the sequence of hearing your character described as an eternal asskicker who's literally too badass for hell to handle was cheesy but also the perfect way to set up the second half of the game. Easily tops 1-3's player-insertion character which is saying something as doomguy is a classic. -
