Market is a hell of a lot cleaner today than when I was a teen ager or even when I lived in San Francisco in my Early 20s back around 89-1990.
He not only got more minorities in the SFPD and Fire Department but even a Woman in both high positions of both departments. So maybe you see him as a commie or hardline liberal for that. He was a liberal rights attorney but mostly for Asians at first. Lots of people complained he gave little shit towards the poor even though some are saying he was always asking how he could help them. I think he got into a little trouble with the Far left when he asked to remove all the Homeless for some big giant event that happened (I forget which one) as well as the America's Cup.
the city came in and removed the encampments of tent cities found all under the Bay Bridge and out near Chrissy Fields area. most of them have not returned since. they moved out in the South of Market under highways and slowly are being pushed farther out. Once this even came in, people felt he used it to remove the homeless altogether (I don't know if this is true or not but probably a little true).
Also the FBI had an eye on him during the Shrimp Boy bust and the other City Management guy also last name Lee or Li . I don't think related to Mayor Lee. but Mayor Lee was said to have been tied in with some criminal behavior. I think he threatened to sue the FBI over it.. somehow it was dropped. but then again, there could be a partial closed case on Lee. He looked worried and sick the last time he was seen on TV News. some peope pointed it out that his head was wobbling a bit as if he was in a daze or deep thought.
Everything in this post sounds like a communist. -

2017-12-13 at 7:12 AM UTCYeah, I thought Lee was pretty good as Mayors go. I generally supported his policy although I think a lot of it was more kind of a token gesture, net good stuff but not radical enough to really fix anything. I had mixed feelings about that "mid market revitalization" thing. I was glad someone was doing something to clean up that part of down but giving what equates to a handout to a bunch of major tech firms as the way to do it was pretty shitty. Twitter was probably bluffing about moving out, and if they weren't then fuck them, probably could have one more to improve the area with the tax we lost out on than importing a bunch of yuppie shits like me did.

I dropped some twitter management off in the Richmond District, they told me they havn't made profit in the years they have existed.. They're next to Uber way down near 9th arn't they? this would be between Spears and maybe 5th on Market that was the most fucked up when I was younger. though yeah, even going all the way up into double digits was shadey.
I thought you guys might like this, I honestly thought it was Onion at first. it's not. which shows the Police Department wasn't even on their side by harrassing Homeless. The Fucking SPCA seems to love homeless dogs and cats more than Homeless people. Of course they say the homeless always break into their property. I'm guessing for drugs for animals being sedated.

In San Francisco, autonomous crime-fighting robots that are used to patrol parking lots, sports arenas, and tech company campuses are now being deployed to keep away homeless people.
The San Francisco Business Times reported last week that the San Francisco SPCA, an animal advocacy and pet adoption group, put a security robot to work outside its facilities in the gentrifying Mission neighborhood. The robot's presence is meant to deter homeless people from setting up camps along the sidewalks.
Last week, the City of San Francisco ordered the SF SPCA to keep its robot off the streets or be fined up to $1,000 per day for operating on sidewalks without a permit, according to the Business Times.
Krista Maloney, media relations manager for the SF SPCA, told Business Insider that staff wasn't able to safely use the sidewalks at times because of the encampments. Maloney added that since the SPCA started guarding its facilities with a robot — known as K9 — a month ago, the homeless encampments have dwindled and there have been fewer car break-ins. -

They're about 5-6 feet tall, look like one of those "Bozo Punching bags" that kids would hit in theoropy
but they probably weigh as much as a volks wagon. That is a funny image though. stealing the fucking thing and reprogramming it to serve their needs. BJs and selling crack -

Twitter is like a block from van ness on market, had a friend who used to wait tables down there and would see people decked out in twitter swag around there all the time. Uber is over in oakland I think, although that may be recent. -
2017-12-14 at 7:49 AM UTCAlso SF is now a functional extensions of SV, who needs profits when you can swim in a sea of VC cash supplied by investors who are rich from... swimming in a sea of VC cash
