I'm probably autistic but this is too different for my tastes. Also half of my addons stopped working, i kind of switched to Firefox-ESR half assedly for my addons mostly but meh.

    That will be all.

Yeah, I thought the more powerful (although admittedly, a little more janky) FF extension APIs that got removed in Quantum were one of the strongest arguments for FF. And despite the massive heralding of tremendous performance gains it still narrowly underperforms chrome stable. I mean I don't particularly dislike it, I don't use firefox except for testing, it just hasn't managed to be the game-changing piece of software mozilla staff spent a month and change making it out to be.

XUL extensions were deprecated for security reasons. Personally I'm happy they finally rolled out a new API with permission controls and security on par with chrome. As a FF user of 13 years it's nice to see the browser modernize and become competitive again.

It looks like shit on Ubuntu as well. Chrome is BorgNet and i have the hardware to have FF resource consumption not be a problem, so this is a change for the worse imho.

Admittedly I haven't looked into the security aspect of things so i can't comment intelligently on it.

This. I'm considering switching over to chrome. I don't know why they keep doing this to me. I was using the old youtube layout too but now my addons for it don't work, so I had to get new ones that only work with the new layout. It's a considerable problem in my life as in I am considering jumping off a bridge because of it. I don't know if I will ever get over this.

I've heard people say this but I've never really understood it. Why couldn't you just add permission controls to the XUL APIs? Why is this a meaningful security point anyway? Like you're installing a piece of software that's running as long as your browser is and 9 times out of 10 can inject scripts into any page you access, you're trusting it, be it old or "WebExtension" or anything else. What security issue is there in XUL extensions that doesn't exist in WebExtensions when most of them get every permission anyway?

It looks the same as FF before we had Quantum. Not sure which version it's based on exactly but i prefer it to the look and feel of Quantum and of course all my addons are working perfectly again.

The one thing i do like a lot about FF Quantum is the built in Web IDE, the new console system and Dev Tools in FF Quantum. It's nice and fun to play around with in imho.

You can dual boot, but you'd have to install Windows first or GRUB will mess up. Then when you are done with installing Windows you boot up from a bootable USB or CD/DVD with Linux and manually assign some space for a Linux partition while keeping the rest intact for Windows. Or what you could do is install Wine on Ubuntu or Mint and go from there. Although i think the easiest would be just to run SteamOS to be honest, it was built for gaming in a Linux environment. Give it a go as a virtual machine first to check it out? I'm a fan of VMware myself and VMware player is free.
