Is this TV worth getting?

   thinking of getting a decent size screen to connect to my laptop to watch movies and videos on. i saw this advertised local for £20($25/30), it says the sound is fucked but i don't watch tv anyway and only want it to view from the laptop. i have some decent enough pc speakers so i'm guessing i can just turn the sound down on the tv and have the sound just from the computer. can't see any problem with that, can you?

   the money in't a problem. all i wondered was is there any reason it couldn't be used via laptop using laptop speakers for sound tho.

   I don't see why that wouldn't work, but if I was the one buying it under the same circumstances I'm sure it would perform as described for a day or two before spontaneously shattering and melting, starting my apt complex on fire in the middle of night and killing everyone.
   
   Just make sure it has the necessary port, and have the owner prove to you that it works like they say it does.
   The following users say it would be alright if the author of this post didn't die in a fire!

    I wonder what the extent of the audio issue is. If it just goes quieter for a second and then back to normal, that wouldn't even bug me probably; that's something I could get used to.
    
    But yeah. That's dirt cheap.

    looks like an old flat panel but says 'hd' on it and it's in the LCD/Plasma section
    
    If it's an LCD TV with an HDMI connection should be fine, just don't expect particularly good resolution or refresh rates
    
    if it doesn't have an HDMI port don't bother, you'd have to get an RCA adapter and resolution would be fucked

    according to the model number its a plasma. i checked out on some forums of people talking about similar problems on similar hitachi tv's and the advice given was along the lines of its either the speakers, bad connection or summing. or the video card is faulty, which isn't uncommon for hitachi's to have this problem. my guess is the seller knows this and is why he selling so cheap. to get the speakers fixed is nothing, if its the video card then its cheaper to get new tv, lol. anyway, another pic shows its got all the outlets i need, plus in another pic it shows usb port on the side.

    has HDMI and VGA, looks like it'd work fine, just don't expect much in the way of quality for $20.
    
    plasmas run hot (use more power), have a shorter lifespan and lower refresh rate than comparable LCDs. I'd say it's probably fine for watching movies, would not recommend games at all and work/browsing might be a bit of a strain.
    
    If it's just the speakers that don't work properly you can always get a cheap set of speakers (logitech etc) and plug them into your computer, route the sound out there instead.
