TRANSSEXUALISM = TRANSHUMANISM More shocking than we think

Originally posted by Lanny you know this thread actually has a good point though. Both transexualism and transhumanism, at least in so far as we're to take either as a serious philosophical position and not a mere aesthetic or legal trifle, are founded in a fundamental rejection of human essentialism. Both erode our image of ourselves in the world as innate and propose another, although in both cases poorly formed, image of the self as antecedent of the world.
It's ironic then that these camps find themselves generally opposite in modern politics. Yet another example of the fundamental ignorance of philosophical concerns in public discourse: debate is mistaken for a game wherein moves are made towards some assigned rather than natural end as opposed to a dialectic wherein natural consequence alone is sought.
In short you're all faggots.
my head hurts. -
2017-11-13 at 1:40 AM UTCA tranny is usually just a gay person with gender dysphoria. It is a tragedy that these people, with a 40% suicide rate, are paraded as heroes and revolutionaries instead of rehabilitated and treated.

pg 5. "The findings paint a troubling picture of the impact of stigma and discrimination on the
health of many transgender people. A staggering 39% of respondents experienced serious
psychological distress in the month prior to completing the survey, compared with only
5% of the U.S. population. Among the starkest findings is that 40% of respondents have
attempted suicide in their lifetime—nearly nine times the attempted suicide rate in the U.S.
population (4.6%)." -
2017-11-13 at 1:52 AM UTC"suicide rate" is not the same thing as "attempted suicide rate" braj

True, transgendered people do have a high rate of attempted suicide and mental illness but it seems like you're suggesting there's a causal relationship there which those facts don't support.

causal?
Transsexualism is gender dysphoria by definition; all transsexuals are, by extension, afflicted with mental illness -

Transsexualism is not gender dysphoria, per the DSM-5 (since you're concerned with definitions here, right?), it's possible for a person to be transgendered by common usage while not satisfying the diagnostic criteria for gender dysphoria. -

If they don't have gender dysphoria then they're pretending to dress up as the opposite sex because they find it hot. I don't see any other alternatives? -

You don't really "pretend" to dress up as anything. A person might dress in ways that aren't typical of members of their sex in their culture for a number of reasons, although thinking it's "hot" is one of them. They might also simply prefer it on an aesthetic non-sexual level. So what? -
