You need a Player's Handbook, a Monster Manual, and a DM's Guide. I haven't played since 3.5, but I believe it's up to 5th edition now. -

2017-11-08 at 3:05 AM UTCWe tried it many times before. Xippilli and I tried it. It just doesn't work. It's doubly bad when people shitpost and disrupt the thread and mods don't give a fuck.

Maybe Lanny could make a permission required subforum? Or just do a blacklist for that subforum. Any shitposting is an automatic blacklist. -

2017-11-08 at 4:29 AM UTCThe basic idea is essentially this mmQ:
- Dungeon Master is "the storyteller"
DM tells the story, creates scenarios and directs players through their campaign
- Players are characters within the story
Players decide how their characters react to the scenarios created by the DM
- Dice are fate
The DM decides how probable it is for your action to work and assigns it a number value on a die or dice, and what skills it pertains to. The player rolls the dice, see if they hit/surpass or miss the target to see if they succeed, and by how much.
- Stats are your influence on fate
Lets say you roll a 9 and have +4 to a skill, you are basically given a 4 point bonus when you roll for that skill.
For example:
DM: Standing before you, you see a wild nigga! He's about to chimp out on you! What shalt thou doest?
mmQ: I pull out my glock faster than he can and shoot him in the face, shouting "break yoself, foo!"
DM: That requires extreme speed and dexterity. Roll a D20 (20 sided die) for 17 dexterity and a D20 for 14 speed.
mmQ: *rolls dice, dexterity roll lands on 13, speed roll lands on 9*
DM: That plus your +4 to dexterity means you hit the dexterity level exactly, but your +3 to speed only gives you 12. That means you are slightly too slow.
You reach for your glock and unholster it smoothly as you shout "BREAK YOSELF, FO!". You quickly begin to fire, but you are just a tad too slow! The nigga has already swung at you and catches you in the jaw, dazing you for one turn and taking 3HP! However your first shot hits him in the face anyway, and the foo goes down. That'll teach him to ride up on you. -
