    Depends. Lots of serial killers have motive. I think I'm not depraved enough to come up with one though, so it'd just be superficial. Also I don't think it would have any major effect. Which, if you're going to throw your life away, why would you not want an effect? Go big or go gnome.

    Well, what i meant was no motive as in. Kelly gets married to a rich guy then poisons him to get his wealth. Serial killers kill because the act of killing satisfies some psychological need in their mind. "Johnny was angry with Matthew so he shot him" is not consistent with how a serial killer would go about things.

    To feel what it's like is a motive. The only way a motive might not be involved, as far as I can tell, is if the person is legitimately batshit crazy. Even then, they probably have some sort of twisted motive that's simply not understood by anyone else.

    Also, I think legally a serial killer is anyone who has killed in three separate instances.

    A motive is just a reason though, so those are reasons. There is a reason for all regardless of it being found(like Stephen Paddock so far).
