Well I tried to post my Jaguar upgrade thread, yet it doesn't give me a Captcha to do so, is there a limitation on new members ?! I'm always upgrading or destroying vehicles in my lair so new threads shouldn't be an issue lol.

    Unlikely

I'm rather fond of fast things, so I decided to upgrade my recently restored gem of a classic Jaguar. I added the supercharger from the same model's sport version/XJR. The end goal was to go from 290 horsepower to 370. In my zealous en devour(read as drunken planning) I didn't account for the additional torque on the transmission. First test drive netted me a 5 second 0-60 time & a huge bang that sounded & felt as if Godzilla had patted my car on the ass lol. It chewed up the forward/A-drum resulting in me having to have the entire transmission rebuilt. I replaced the weak stamped drum w/a better forged unit. Now my 4,000 pound land yacht is as nimble as she's ever been.

Here's the mangled drum it's really befuddling as to why they would use a stamped piece of hardware in such a stressed location on @ the time a $70,000 vehicle.

Why because Jaguar's are the most over rated pieces of shit EVER.

    theyre in competition with BMW/mercedes.

ffs...BMW is overpriced shit. they have good paint/paintjobs and theyre nice to drive for about 30k miles...after that theyre shit. fucking coolant hoses fuck themselves...lights shit themselves...the electronics self-detonate...

my BMW experience is why i never bought an S1000RR. i told the salesman my concern about the electronics on the bike and he said theyre the most reliable electronics of any manufacturer. and at least a half dozen people ive spoken to first hand in-person have had various electronics gremlins turn their bikes into bricks at 6k to i think 18k...the oldest being i think a '13

edit: also the automobile radiators are shit wrapped in shit and sprinkled with shit drops. theyre some sort of plastic shit that after about five years gets so brittle even the slightest impact cracks it like glass.

Spoken like a true layman, the X308/1997-2003 was the era where Jaguar developers finally worked out their bugs & was before the total Ford take over/emasculation. The only true flaws of this vehicle are plastic timing tensioners(easily replaceable w/ metal units),the aforementioned A-drum & the plastic thermostat housing, all of which I've upgraded. These cars have real wood,Connolly leather & some of the sexist lines on a modern vehicle. I've owned Maserati,Lexus,Corvettes etc. the X308 easily shits upon them all. No car hugs the road as gracefully.

my understanding is the aluminum ones would develop that cavitation-slash-dielectric problem and leak. the plastic ones were 'supposed' to be more resistant to the cavitation and impervious to the electric flow.

The previous XJ6 era & XJS are responsible for the brand's undeserved bad rep. Faulty wring & electrical gremlins for days. Lucas industries/the ones responsible for it are referred to as "Lucas The Prince Of Darkness" in many Jag owner circles lol. I've driven & owned the new breed Jags & they're basically a sexy Ford Taurus.

BMW's glory years were 97-2003 as well. The transmission in the base Jaguar X308 is actually a BMW zf5hp24 unit.

    Here's the upgraded drum.

the consensus is that bmws are made to live in first world countries where its cold or neither cold or hot.

and not for third world or places with third world weathers,

No the drum is a known flaw, it's the second time it's been replaced in my car, the 1st was prior to any mods. There's a problem w/ the tranny's throttle body pressure regulator, it causes spikes then cavitation in the fluid & the drum to bang especially on spirited acceleration from a complete stop. I had mine rebuilt w/ the new trans-go regulator upgrade & forged drum. It is now built for life lol.

A manual in a X308 would defeat the whole purpose. I have flirted w/a paddle shifter conversion though.

    This guy's a maniac lol.

A bit more tame, still tons of work.
