2017-10-30 at 12:57 PM UTCThey can only do harm. One of my pet peeves are people (both guys and girls do this I've noticed) where I'll be talking about something and I'm done saying what I was saying and we sit there for a bit and then they say "weeeeeeeel this is awkward" or "the silence is deafening" in a snarky kind of way after I just spoke for the last 10 minutes.
I went and saw "jigsaw" with my friend yesterday afternoon had a tonic and vodka and ate a hamburger with fries at the show and it was actually a better movie compared to the last 4 saws I've saw.
We left and were in his car and he asked me what I thought of the movie and I talked about it for awhile and then I just quit talking because there was nothing else to say. Then he mentioned how it "got all silent" and I've known my friend for a couple years so I didn't feel like it was awkward, I was just tired and what else can you say about a saw movie thats almost completely the same as all the others.
Even when I went on my stupid coffee date saturday morning I spoke for awhile and she would only say things like "rad" "sick" "coolio" and when I finally didn't have anything to say she was like "weeeeeeel this is kinda weird" and I was only not talking for like 8 seconds because I was sipping my cafe.
So I said its not weird for me. And she said "well i'm trying to get to know you" but when I asked her if she's done anything fun lately, she was like "no I just work" and then I asked her what kind of music she likes and she was like "I like everything"
So it was almost like I had nothing to go off of.
weeeeeeeeeeeel this is awkward

2017-10-30 at 1:02 PM UTCI don't have this problem because I'm not fucking autistic and don't speak for the last 10 minutes in the first place.

2017-10-30 at 4:02 PM UTCThe best thing to do in that scenario is to unacknowledge their 'awkward' comment and stay silent. Show them what an awkward silence truly is. Try to make as much eye contact and possible and have a small, peculiar smile pasted on as you speak not a word for the remainder of your visit.

2017-10-30 at 4:11 PM UTCBill Krozby, that means you’re known as the guy who talks too much so it gets awkward when actually shut up for once.
You need to ask more questions and listen rather than try to lead or dominate the conversation. People love to talk about themselves, so you will appear more likeable if you ask probing questions about them. Then listen intently and repeat back some of what they say to show that you were listening.
I like to challenge myself - if you’re the only one in the room who is right, then are you really right? -

I do that too. Funny that you mention that theres a guy in my neighborhood that stands at the bus stop when I walk to the beer store and he has the most smily grin permanently on his face, he creeps me out and I actually considered asking him if I could take a picture with him because he looks so bizarre.
I don't think he's insidious.. he just looks really weird like some kind of black hole sun mf
WEEEEEEEL GONTS!

nah not really a lot of people tell me they like to talk to me. I do ask a lot of questions but I think I might hang around people shyer than myself. Like my coffee date I asked her about her job and what she does, where she's from and she told me she talks too much, different people... are well... different... i guess.
But you could also be right to an extent, i get kinda long winded when I drink but a lot of people do as well. My gf for example doesn't exactly talk a lot but she will do other things like text me pictures of her dog, and ask me how I'm doing, while I'm not a big texter I like to talk face to face or voice to voice rather than using social media. A lot of people think it's strange that I don't use myspace or facebook or that I call them, or that I don't anti-depressants
it takes all types i guess lol

Eh, I have two co-workers who tell me shit all day long and rarely shut up, and when they do stop I definitely don't think 'this is awkward', I think 'thank god, I can enjoy some silence.'
The uncomfortable silence people are just too stupid to have anything interesting to say so they say the only thing they can think of, hoping the other person will take the reigns again.
I agree that talking in ten minute blocks of chat is probably not the best form of 2-way casual conversation and that intermittent questions are key to a good back and forth dialogue, but either way, if you get uncomfortable when I stop talking, it means you're weird and stupid. -

this and I guess I was exaggerating about the ten minute blocks, they will ask questions between or throw something in but I think a lot of people are even more awkward than me so i have to "take the reign"
I think there is a discord in society especially murican society. A lot of people cant look you in the eyes theses days, they rather just blow you and run away then have to look into your soul.
But I as well back off people I don't know well, I don't get open up to people right away.
Get on tinder or a dating site and if you ask a chicken what they are up to a common response is "nm u" like they can't even type it out, like what are you doing? just drooling staring at a wall, and I know I'm not everyones kind of guy, but I've had many very intimate conversations with people.
It's all a discord in the modern human condition today I believe. Like last night I got home from the movies and I saw the guy that drives a similar oldsmobile that I do, same color and I mentioned to him when I saw him getting out of the car that I was mirrioring it and we chopped it up for a second and he told me he just moved back to town from school and we introduced ourselves to each other and I kept it brief and told him I will talk to him later.
to each their own. but all im saying is theres nothing wrong with silence -
2017-10-30 at 4:53 PM UTCYea, Bill Krozby! Fuck words! Just start flapping and grunting. There won't be much of a difference in your communication anyway.
