2017-10-21 at 1:57 AM UTCIt was called Cambodia in Apocalypse Now. but thats only because when it was released 3 years the start of it's making, That country was called Cambodia? It's weird but in a 1970 60 minutes episode, they talk of "Softening up the front line in Cambodia". by steering a fucking hurricane into what is at least now Cambodia. it's weird in 1970 they knew it was called Cambodia.
Are you sure America wasn't calling it Cambodia in the 1970s and later they chose to go with that name? -

ignore him, hes a retard. by his logic, we cant call thailand thailand or say that thais speak thai, we'd have to call them siam who speak siamese.
or japanese for that, we cant call then that, cos their nihonko or something like that, and they speak niponese. -
2017-10-21 at 5:48 PM UTCIn English, you call the Thai language Thai. In English, you call the Cambodian language Khmer. What's so hard to understand? This isn't my logic. This is the standard naming agreed upon by linguists.

Yes, that's what the country is called but not the language.
By your logic, people in America should be said to speak American. And Arabic should only be spoken in Saudi Arabia. And Hindi isn't a language but should be called Indian. And in Brazil they should speak Brazilian. And Pashtun doesn't exist but should instead be called Afghani. And there should be Mexican and Canadian. So on and so forth.
You can think that all you want, but that simply isn't how it is. -

YES.And Arabic should only be spoken in Saudi Arabia.
not necessarily but saudi arabians most certainly speak arabic. And Hindi isn't a language but should be called Indian.[/quotq]
speaking hindi can be spoken as speaking indian as well but speaking indian not necessarily means speaking hindi.
yes, you can say people who spoke hindi as speaking indian. you can also call people who speak navajo as speaking indian. And in Brazil they should speak Brazilian.
YES, becos their strain of portugese is different from portugese portugese.
And Pashtun doesn't exist but should instead be called Afghani.
again, pasthun can be afghani but afghanis are not necessarily pashthun. And there should be Mexican and Canadian. So on and so forth.
wouldnt be wrong if you say so.You can think that all you want, but that simply isn't how it is.
what credentials you have to say that out loud as facts ???? -
2017-10-22 at 5:35 AM UTCDude, again, this is what linguists call it. If you want to take classes for your trip to Cambodia, you sign up for Khmer. If you are filling out a form, you check the box for speaking Khmer. If you are discussing what language they speak in Cambodia, you call it Khmer. 'Cambodian' is for the ignorant who do not know it's called Khmer. Your argument is pointless and you are on the wrong side of the fence. Turn over, spread your legs, and admit defeat you fucking retard.

I want to save up some money to go to Cambodia, and it would obviously be really cool to learn Khmer. I mean, I've been saying that for a few years now, but now I'm not wasting all my money on drugs, so I could actually do it for once. Hopefully it's easy to get a job teaching English over there. I looked into TEFL a bit in the past, but I'm pretty sure that in Cambodia, it's so unregulated they only really care if you speak English fluently. Language Arts classes were always a breeze for me, so I don't think I'd be too bad for the kiddos either, but maybe I should still look into TEFL so they actually get some quality learning. There's a huge difference between knowing English and knowing how to teach it, I assume. Plus, then I could still do it in some other countries that are a bit less full of poverty. I've heard most jobs in China require a Bachelor's for that, but I think a lot of Southeast Asian countries just want TEFL certification, if even that. I'm sure it'd be helpful to know their language too, both for teaching and just for getting along over there. Maybe find me a wife while I'm there. Lol. -

That's only in redneck America
San Francisco, Chicago, LA, NYC, Miami, Houston, Seattle etc wouldn't be international transit cities without that vibe on the street.
What we do ask is if they plan on living in the USA to try and learn the language. if they need to make contact to the public .. especially in an emergency. I have a couple things lined up in priority (with my mom being sick and going to an elderly home as well) but I am planning on joining an online site to learn Spanish and pay for the lessons. it seemed to be working for me. Rosetta Stone is so fucking expensive. Then comes French (because it should be easier after Spanish) then maybe Manderin (Insanely hard) and Russian. -

You can get a TEFL for dirt cheap if you just want the paper, so why not? It's not federally regulated here so the requirements for getting your TEFL are basically nil.
In China, and most of Asia, you're gonna need a Bachelors. You won't even get your Z visa if you don't have a bachelors or some promise of work. You definitely can't work as a teacher legally, and apparently they've been cracking down harder on this since the new legislation this year. Cambodia is definitely a good country for unregulated teaching. But they also have lots of unregulated guns.
