don't they do that in some places in Japan and Europe?

not sure the power expenditure would be worthwhile though, lifting ~10-tonne trucks all day

not seeing the point of this considering the current means of tractor-trailer parking/fueling/maintenance

    impractical due to:

    - hydraulic elevators of the size required would be cost prohibitive...and probably an EPA problem-child. it'd be easier to just create a spiral or long-distance ramp.
    - most retail and wholesale (warehouses) facilities are above-ground. the tractor-trailer being lowered below the facility for parking/fueling/maintenance would necessitate all the other ancillary shit to be lowered/elevatored as well.

this isnt something that would be wide-spread. if anything itd be something with a specific, focused need...like a facility in N.Korea scared of getting bombed...or somewhere it snows excessively.

power isnt the issue...its maintenance costs, upkeep costs, safety costs (with that type of elevator people are going to die on a regular basis) and installation costs. those elevators are 'spensive.

why so you claim people would die on this. I would hire safe contractors to install the elevator

    not installation...application.

based on my experience with elevators with the size and weight capacity needed for your idea. one example...on aircraft carriers.
