One of the fucked up things as well is that times seems to crawl by. You might feel like you've been in bed in agony for three hours but in reality only 45 minutes have passed. The anxiety is pretty bad as well.
After two weeks or so of that i had post acute withdrawal syndrome which is characterized for me at least, by being emotionally unstable. You still feel 'off' but it's better than the acute symptoms.
Anyway, after that experience withdrawal never really quite got to be that intense and i think the more you experience it the better your body gets at managing the symptoms.
Yea that sounds about right. My first time was after about 3 months of using oxy 5-7 days per week, usually 80 mg, and that was fucking shitty, laying in bed in agony and throwing up/dry heaving of and off. Although the brunt of it only lasted a couple days. -

Yeah, people have different metabolization rates and body chemistry. And yeah, some people are pussies and will talk about how awful it was coming of their 20mg a day vicodin perscription. Some of it is subjective, relative to what youre expecting and what kind of pan youre used to.And I have known some "Zen Master" types dudes who, even when coming down off of massive fentanyl and heroin doses for months on end, with their entire body shaking and bile soaked into the top half of their T shirt, could still smile and go about their day.
Opiate withdrawal- especially when your body is already in bad shape- is objectively awful. I went through withdrawal a fair number of times when I was doing just a bag or two every day. Pretty much every day nearly. It never seemed to get much easier. But after I started stocking up, and Id go months or years without having gone through 3-5 grams a day, the withdrawals got to the point where it was just.... i can't properly describe it. Bones grinding, muscles straining and tendons feeling like violin strings ready to snap. Sweating hot and freezing somehow at the same time. Being sapped of every last drop of energy, but still somehow being unable to sleep. Stomach gurgling and shitting every 15-30 min. If you manage to put anything in your stomach, you often wretch and dry heave until it comes up. And sometimes for no reason at all, youll wretch and dry heave all the same, even if theres nothing in there. And then just black bile comes up. And when it gets really bad, and theres NOTHING left in your stomach to puke up, the stomach reflex feels like an awful stomach cramp. And especially if you smoke and your esophagus is already raw, a lot of times all that stomach acid coming up with cause your throat to start bleeding.
And then theres the psychological part. That feeling of joy, love , excitement, fulfillment, happiness, comfort, ease? Take just not the absence of that, but the inverse of all those feelings- guilt, shame, depression, anger, anxiety, pain, stress, hate, fear.....crystallize all that down to its purest form, then mainline all that emotion into your jugular. -

oh, looks like you didn't comprehend this part of my OP:I mean it probably is like that if you've had a long ass habit without breaks, but the majority of opiate users I know don't use that way, because not everyone has money or access to dope or pills 24/7 so unless you've got a solid hook it's a lot less reliable than getting your morning coffee everyday.

it's funny that you say opiate withdrawal is all relative but then you call people pussies for not being able to handle 20 mg a day hydrocodone withdrawal but then you also say that opiate withdrawal is objectively awful. i mean come on dude. -

Let me clarify. Opiate withdrawal in general sucks. Some of it is in relation to what your expectations are. Then theres a bigger part of it thats just a result of your dosages, your body chemistry, how fucked up your body is already, and how well you take care of yourself, diet and otherwise. Though theres a major difference between coming off of a couple weeks Tylenol4's and an 11 year multi gram a day IV heroin/ fentanyl habit. That shouldnt be a big surprise to anyone. -
2017-10-08 at 6:16 PM UTCToo many nights I spent curled up in the fetal position in my bed, no sheets over me because I was profusely sweating yet freezing at the same time. With each shiver, my body aches and thrashed in pain. All of my joints had a mixture of Restless Leg Syndrome and Rheumatoid Arthritis all attacking me at once. I tossed and turned and only got up to shit pure liquid into the toilet. The mere scent of it caused me to projectile vomit all over the floor, my tremors more pronounced now that I am standing up. Nose running, eyes running, just absolutely fucking miserable. Then someone ended up coming over with something. I didn't give a shit what it was. I specifically remember sitting in my 97' Honda Civic in my driveway, a friend handed over his bottle of 10/650 Lortabs and I instantly counted out 10 and chewed them up, swallowing them with the needle water bottles that littered the floor of my car. I felt better within like, 20 minutes, but the APAP was enough to cause me to hurl profusely in the driveway. Ahhh...old times.

yea, i know, i also excluded the situation where someone has been shooting up daily for a long ass time because it's my personal experience that myself and most of the other opiate users i know don't have the funds or lifestyle to be able to. in fact i only know one guy who is like that and the only reason he can manage it is because his wife basically works and is the head of the household and essentially takes care of him because he doesn't give a fuck about anything except heroin. the rest of us get $100 and go to town but then maybe were broke for a couple days or have to go to work and cant be nodded out or whatever -

See, I was the opposite. Everyone I knew was IV using heroin addicts along with me. We were a little group of about 15 people. We'd call each other constantly, each of us trying to see if the other had some sort of scam going on or was able to get dope. This was a daily lifestyle for us. We were flat fucking broke. I lived under a goddamn bridge for an entire summer in 2007. I still managed my habit with window washing, gas station "I am out of gas" scams, and straight up theft/robbery. -
