Having said that, anarcho-primitivism is basically a romanticized post-leftist narrative that portrays indigenous societies based upon a hunter-gatherer model as inherently good and pacifist unlike the muh ebil western civilization. Needless to say, as ted kaczynsky pointed out, this portrayal is quite inaccurate and it’s more like a mental projection of a collective sense of loss that leads them to picture the pre-industrial society as some sort of utopian arcadian whose pastoral simplicity is the ideal condition for the mankind -tl;dr: they bought Rousseau&company’s koolaid-. Ofc those assumptions were factually wrong and hunter-gatherer societies were neither peaceful nor particularly egalitarian, but ethical issues aside, my problem with primitivism is that according to the (very individualist\capitalist) way I see anarchism it cannot help but lead to social darwinism, and in an ecosystem where the survival of the fittest is the law the individuals, or group of them, would have an evolutionary incentive to develop new technologies to increase their chances of survival, so primitivist societies would not last long at all by design. Anyway, I can see the hoards of neo-luddites and anarcho-primitivists getting more and more proselytes and increasing their appeal towards a more mainstream audience in the upcoming years when the AI boogeyman and automation will cause massive technological unemployment

If you look at people who seriously defend primitivist positions I think you'll find that's not really a true assessment re: "pastoral utopia". The general party line is that yes, primitivist models of society are going to be hard, while most don't imagine a tremendous increase in violence no one denies there would be serious unpleasant repercussions of reducing industrialization but rather that the consequence of continued unchecked technological growth is worse than what giving up the benefits industrialization entails.

afaik, while the pastoral utopia thing might be a bit of an overstatement, most of the advocates of anarcho-primitivism are either hardcore environmentalist (something à la church of euthanasia's "kill yourself, save the planet") or believe that hunter-gatherer societies are really as close as you can get to an egalitarian model that lacks of power structures\hierarchies and in a way or another they somewhat bought the "noble savage" bullshit. i'm not too familiar with most of primitivist literature, but at least that's what i remember one of its most famous advocates, john zerzan, believes. anyway, evolution can't be stopped, so imho it's just wishful thinking

Guaranteed.

Anarcho-Primitivism is a bit like Communism, it correctly perceives some of the problems with modern mass-civilisation, it just gets all the solutions wrong. But almost anything complicated is going to take a couple of tries to get right, and that can mean throwing away all the work you have made so far and starting over from the beginning.

The future is a small number of humans living high tech lives with very little agriculture. Once you get rid of the underclass (what commies call the lumpenproletariat) and ensure freedom of information most problems with hierarchy go away by themselves.
